Honestly, I'd be really upset if Stardock switched to cheating AI's. The AI quality is what keeps me coming back. This is why I wish Elemental 2015 and LH could be combined in 2019 or so when Stardock's ready to work on the next-gen Elemental. I can understand it a bit more for fantasy games. I expect GalCiv 3 continues the tradition of honest AI.

This is why you see it more in competitive games than non-competitive. In non-competitive game it's easier to judge yourself not to suck. Example: made a friend throw his stick yesterday.

What do I like the least? This is going to be a long list for a game I like, but that's the way it usually is with games I consider B+ quality. Lesser games I quit over bigger reasons, better games have fewer reasons. Many of these are game balance related 1) the way Life/Death shards work. It's buggy and hamstrings the game in some areas. 2) overemphasis on best equipment/armor 3) Wish faction

How complicated can the ideology system get? Right now ideology still feels a little too barebones/simple for my taste, like a thrown-together feature instead of something more integral to the game. One thing I'd like to see implemented is Paradox game-style random events that are based on your ideologies, or have additional options unlocked based on your ideology. Think that would add some spice to the game. Give folks the option

I just have doubts whether the Civ5 engine can do this well enough to be worth my while, especially with GalCiv3 and other games providing good competition. I'm going to wait and see what reviews are like for this game before plunging- this is not a pre-order after how Civ 5 was.

Yes. They're 0. I am surprised steam does not charge fees once the game is added to steam. I'll make sure to always buy my star dock titles from the website in the future Also please make a new

The expanded gameplay change I currently want the most in LH is individualized heroes, which I believe should be backportable from the next game (I think you said that was a feature) Given how that game turns out, I might want more features from that game backported to LH, many of them sound exactly like things I added or changed in LH.
Could you guys at Stardock make a non-Steam version of this game? I'm still not clear on all the details (I'm still searching for them), but having a copy of the game that does not require Steam at all (during any stage of installation and there after) is a big deal for me. I'm quite willing to negotiate on details. The game doesn't have to be Steam free during development, but I would like it to be Steam free at release. I'm even wi

Crazy. I figured the GalCiv3 budget was at least equal to AOW3. Notch really did a moneyhat. As for AOW3, I'm starting to like it a bit more now, is I'm accepting that it's not what I wanted and I had a heavy dose of nostalgia goggles (AOW1 was my first commercial PC game)

Odds are LH is running on a skeleton crew because they're focusing on the new title and lack folks to work on LH, like it or not. Given certain statements by Brad, I do worry a bit that Stardock has a bit of a people crunch at the moment, as in not enough folks to do what they want to do. Not much you can do other than be patient right now and hope Brad finds some good hires willing to move to Detroit.
Strange how well it's being received, considering how I think LH is a much better game and yet wasn't reviewed quite as well. to each their own, I guess.
LH is much less visually pleasing, and AI usually doesn't impress reviewers- most of whom aren't good enough at the genre to need a solid AI.

I gotta agree with Brad I like that I like the shorter tactical battles. I do want more depth in TB's for the LH series, using some concepts from AOW, but I don't want the adjacent hex rule- as that leads to 40-60 min tac battles which are no fun. This is what made me realize that I don't enjoy AOW games anymore like I did when I younger, and why I wish I hadn't bought AOW3. I just prefer LH, despite its flaws. As
