Most likely he got bad info from someone and believed it, as he's probably pretty busy and didn't have time to vet, and he's stuck in a hivemind vortex. Happens to most people when they're worked up, and justice is an issue that is riling a lot of people up given the times, with both the left and right having legitimate targets these days. Too bad you can't offer to meet him somewhere and show him your side of the story.
Maybe tie % of planet pops that isn't at your capital to government type, and then going over that limit can have some side effects, such as bad events/Chances of planets declaring independence if they get strong enough?
It's a damn shame he got a case of the stupid, because I think of him as someone who wants to do the right thing- he pretty much gave up his NFL career over civil rights. I don't think he's a bad person, I think he's just someone who got some bad information, and feels like he has to take a leadership role because of his position and is going off half-cocked because he feels he has to do something. I've actually been afraid to comment on stuff
Yeah, level 10 cap sounds unfun. Most hero trees are pretty limited as well.
Civ 5 convinced me that Firaxis guys aren't insta-buys anymore. BE confirmed it.
Are the tactical battle maps going to work like SK, with certain places you can't go?
Just saw Tom Chick's review. That's all I needed to convince me to not buy this period. Firaxis right now just can't cut the mustard anymore in terms of making a good game in this genre.
I'm just wondering if it's possible for a AAA company to make a great game in a non mass-market genre.
I have little to no interested in BE right now. Maybe at 75% off. Civ 5 disappointed me as much as War of Magic did (sorry Jon but I don't blame you for it- I think much of it was outside your control) , expansions improved it less than FE/LH. Also, a ton of good games out now and upcoming. It's just another case to me of a AAA publisher (Firaxis) getting bloated and having the quality of their games revert to average. I just think the Firaxis w
I've noticed the last unit thing as well. I even sometimes deliberately split up and reconfigure my army to exploit this. I suspect it's legacy from GalCiv2. This needs to be fixed.
Late 2015 seems so long away. Then again, tiny team and an ambitious game, so it's important to get it right.
x64 would probably cost over half what a new game would cost. If the budget is limited, a final expansion would be ok, but I really want a full-budgeted sequel instead, even if I have to wait a few years for it. I just feel LH has some fundamental issues that can't really be patched and would need a sequel to fix.
I'm waiting for next build as well- and maybe even Beta 3, while I enjoy what I played- I don't like preset maps at all.
This looked super-impressive. This is a potential GOTY for me in 2015 if everything comes together.
With LH, I have to stop playing, so that I can handle unrest. Like answering the door, phone, or fixing the shed roof in the snow, it drags me from game-mode and slaps me into work-mode. How can this be classed as fun? It's a game, not a political simulator for gauging the feel-good-factor of young voters.
You shouldn't give up on a game just because it has one mechanic you disagree with. That said, I just hope this is truly integrated into the game, instead of being just a penalty associated with the doomsday counter, or else it will be a boring addition to the game. Question: should cities be able to pop up quests themselves?
There should be ways to lower unrest besides spell, such as quests, prestige (that should come back- prestige gives you benefits but makes SK angry at you), etc...
I like the way it's handled in SK over LH by a wide margin. Both in using pioneers to upgrade OPs and with the ZOC damage. I believe porting this to LH would be an improvement.
I meant Steam closed not offline play. Only reason I care about that is in case of a Steam security breach/malware attack, which is very unlikely but not impossible
You sure on that, I've never been able to do that with LH.
Those things could have their odds increase on harder difficulty levels, or as a second difficulty level with mega events. I just hope Stardock takes advantage of all the flexibility this type of game has. Would love to see the creators go ham.
Vault's done since they just give the info publicly now. Vaults are before a game is officially announced.
I like what I'm seeing so far. This game is going to need a lot of random to truly be great, and maybe some progressively harder random for when you start winning consistently.
I agree, it should both be under the hood, and be randomized enough so that you don't know what the effects will be.
