The past 2-3 years, I've been largely filling up my backlog with old games I wanted at dirt cheap prices. Now I pretty much have them all. My purchasing now is a few games at full price (interesting strategy games, certain indies, PC fighting games) A few games I'm on the fence on will be bought at 75% off (Paradox games tend to fall in this category now) This is the year where the amount of money I've spent o

It just doesn't seem right that the ages are defined by the player. Age should be a global thing, that's how it is in the history books. Being the first to get into a new age should bring some benefits, maybe in terms of defining the age itself (or a bonus to something in that age) It does smack a bit of new eras in Civ, though those weren't as limiting. If you want to discourage beelining- maybe have

You can't make everything an option, or it becomes too confusing. Idea: Ages to me should be a global thing, not a racial thing. Maybe heading into a new age speeds up the tech rate, and adds more anomalies, and allows catch-up on previous age techs much more quickly.

I don't think we'll see an Elemental II until the end of the decade, Stardock only has so many resources they can devote to their own games, and GalCiv III is their main breadmaker on the games side. If Firaxis did a fantasy TBS, it would do strong numbers. They're the big giant of the genre- it's why Street Fighter outsells the other fighting games, why the Elder Scrolls outsells RPGs, etc. I am interested how AOW3 tur

One thing I'm curious about- is the game going to be less moddable due to how it is working? (I've never modded before, if I end up with a lot of free time next year, I might try to bite the bullet and learn)

I want a slow-paced, macro-oriented RTS like Kohan. I think the Elemental world could really work as an RTS, the units are in place already. It might actually work better that way than as a TBS when I've thought about it. You'd have to strip down some things, but most of what's in the game already would translate. Kohan is a long-forgotten name except among diehards. Much of that is Timegate was a one-hit wonder, thei

My hope: Stardock partners with Lab Zero to make a new fighting game and keeps them in business 2nd hope: Spiritual Successor to Kohan with ex-Timegate devs under more competent management. Most likely: would never happen, it's something I'm not expecting.

The logistics bonuses should be percentages perhaps instead of just raw numbers , at least in terms of racial bonuses. Also, I think combat shouldn't cost movement points, that will stop the fleets of trash delay tactic the AI loved to use in GC2 which was annoying and lame. This would make logistics more important. (or better idea- combat movement costs are based on how long the battle is, a long enough battle may not finish in on

I want to see E2015 to see how much fun the new concepts are, with a Second Elemental taking the best of both, alongside some small new stuff in a few years. LH does have some residual problems from earlier designs, I think E2015 is a shot at fixing this. BTW Brad did tweet yesterday that he made a small tweak to monster AI which helps that should go in a future patch.

At this point, I don't think a full expansion will occur, they'll support the game via DLC/mini-expansion model like what Paradox does with their games. There is E2015, but that's going to be very different. I kinda want to see a new Elemental game on the new GalCiv III tech, but that won't be for another 3-4 years at a minimum. I also want to see E2015, because I'd really want to see this world reimagined (I could see somethi

Steam forums is more your general forum like a Gamefaqs, where Stardock-type forums tend to get a little higher grade of individual. That said, you find good people and trolls on both. The anger at Early Access is due to the actions of other games, Stardock just happens to not have earned their trust yet. You saw a similar reaction after War of Magic, where the longtime Stardock fans were willing to give Stardock a 2nd chance, and thos

If society can't make it worthwhile for many to have jobs- let them not have jobs and be taken care of through guaranteed minimum incomes. That would maximize societal benefit. Some folks wouldn't mind it if people starved under that scenario, but they often forget that it just takes one twist of fate for them to be the ones starving and jobless.
Is there any info on just how many expansions / dlcs there will be, and at what rate or pricing? Also does the free GCII ultimate on upgrade still apply? Just wondering if anyone can make a good case for upgrading from regular to elite.
So far just the Snathi is official, but they've said they plan on at least 2 expansions and more DLC. Free GalCiv I
I'm glad for this thread. If co2 continues its trajectory and surface temps remain flat we'll get to watch a lot of crow eating.
I'd rather see crow eaten than global warming, but the science is good enough that plans should be made in case of global warming. Also remember, weather is short-term, climate is something measured in decades and centuries.
From the information available, GALCIV3 is looking pretty much like the previous iteration with nothing that substantial to tell them apart. This is a gut feeling impression and I hope I'm wrong and there's more than updated graphics and tweaks here and there to justify wide consumer interest in a seemingly lackluster premise.
It hasn't been implemented yet- innovation is often one of the last things to be iterated,
Agreed, Larsenex. It would work, but the cheapness of it would be very apparent. Your ideas are good ones. I just don't think they fit in with the GC pattern, and I think SD has built the game in a way that makes it very easy to add a much more elegant and credible solution to this problem.
What's cheap about it? Just say that the amount is the damage the base can repair easily, so if
And yeah, good question. So why do Stardock forums allow anonymity?
For older customers (I believe pre-Impulse) , they can see the customer name associated with the account. A big reason I don't use my real name, is because it is very similar with someone more well known, especially during my younger years. I've also received some harassment bef
