Gid--have you ever read "A Framework for Understanding Poverty" by Ruby Payne? Being someone who's never went "without" really, though my parents were poor, it really gave me a lot of insight.

Hmmmm...I don't have ONE single act that I'd go back and take away. But I wish that I would have spent more time with my dad and my grandpa. They had so much wisdom to impart and now I have to learn it all the hard way for myself. Blech!
I agree. I can read this crap on eonline or something.
Then it's on them to "learn" the language. We do the best we can trying to teach it to them, but we can only do so much and they can only absorb so much.
Geez, babe, I didn't know you had posted. Thanks for keeping your FIANCEE in the loop. Dork.
But many just have given up and are doing time in school just like a prisoner in jail waiting for the time to retire. I agree with you. And I agree that's not okay. My fiancee's (that's so weird!) mom is a teacher, and she has been for 30 years. Think of how much education has changed in that thirty
I think InBloom's response was spot-on. How do we get rid of a teacher that has classes that continually have bad results? Plus what is up with sending a child on to the next grade that is failing most subjects? Let me give you an example: My school has lots of spanish speaking kids and lots o
C--Christ--do you reall need a scripture for that?
Wow...too beautiful! Glad you all had a good time together in the sunshine. I'm jealous!
Ummm...sorry...I should just leave his computer alone. : )
I agree wholeheartedly, K. What freaks me out is parents who send their kids to school in all these miniature "gangsta" clothes and don't give a damn about their homework. It REALLY freaks me out when the same parent doesn't have a phone because the bill can't bothered to be paid. What if something happened to the child at school? Kids can be really, REALLY cruel to one another. I'm glad YOURS have some parents who know that wort
It should be a felony to be that cute!
Do it! There's a HUGE need for medical transcriptionists! I tutored a girl whose mom worked from home in Fargo, ND for a hospital in St. Cloud, MN (about 2.5 hours apart) doing medical transcription. It's a *great* profession to go into!
Yay! Good for you, K. You're so good at medical terminology and stuff already, I think you'll do GREAT! All you have to do is learn the codes. I think it's cool you're doing something for yourself, too. I'm proud of you! (Not that you need me to say that, but I am. )
My mom always gets a PMS zit on her chin. And lately I've been breaking out almost like I did in high school. It's very frightening. Isn't pregnancy supposed to make you "glow"? lol I think you'll be fine. And I bet you're beautiful as always, even with a little hormonal "mishap"
As a Christian myself, I find myself being very ashamed of him. Go ahead and think your "crap" if you want, but don't say it on national television. What a moron.
The difference between an abortion and a miscarriage is CHOICE. Can I choose an abortion? Yes. Can I choose to miscarry? Ummm...sometimes, I suppose, but mostly no.
Rent a car and go see the Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon. If you've got time and you want to, take the six hour trip and stay over night at the grand canyon. If you just want to hang out on the strip, I like the Luxor. You have to see the Paris for sure, and if you go on a weekday you should be able to go up in the Stratosphere without an hour long wait. The Venetian is a must-see as well. If you need more things to see, I can look
Ang...I've been there, too. It's hard being compared to that really hot skinny blonde chick with bouncy, volumous breasts, a flat tummy, and long legs that end in stilletto heels. I almost ended my relationship a year and a half ago over the issue. It's really hurtful to be compared to something that you'll NEVER be. I know nothing about sex, really. But I, in general, agree with Tex--make love-making fun. But I know how degrading it is t
I was always a daddy's girl. When my father passed 7 years ago when I was 18, my relationship with my mom changed alot. We've become a lot closer now that I'm a woman, too. Her strength absolutely amazes me. She's gone from being a criticizer to being an encouraging listener. We don't always agree, but I think we've come a long way. We're more likely to pal around now...going to ceramics or the movies or out to dinner or something. I lov
Hmmmm...this is hard. I think Yellowstone is really unique. There's not many places in the world with such geothermal activity. I think San Diego is beautiful. One more thing. The Spam Musem.
Hey...Dr...isn't 4 lbs alot in such a short amount of time?
It's *SO* not fair to all of you. I mean really. *sighs* Know that both of you and your whole family is loved and appreciated. I don't know what else to say. So I'll just say (((((((The D-K Family))))))) (PS...I have my sister looking for that pesky drum pad...I thought I knew where it was but I wasn't able to hunt it down over break...I'll have to call her to pick up the pace.)
Yay! Congratulations to you and your whole family.
I think it takes a lot of bravery to do what you do. I think it takes a lot of bravery to put your faith and trust in someone else, even if they're not there right at that moment. It's so refreshing to see dedication and commitment in a relationship. Really.
