Oooh, so you do know what they are! I do! And I even teach my first graders what they are and that they should use them! We use Mad Libs in the classroom to learn parts of speech. Whooooeeeee.

Let's summarize, Lucas. This is what I see. 1. I don't see that some of your articles have a lot of thought. It's like "George Bush licked his ball sack! I wish I could lick my ball sack. Can any of you lick your ball sack?," and then that's the content of an article. No one really cares that George Bush can lick his ball sack, unless you make it interesting. Add a paragraph of well-thought-out opinion, or point out something paradoxica

Very insightful into the lives of military men and women, K. It's so much different being on the outside looking in, versus being on the inside and looking out. I don't think I could do it. I'm far too codependent. Ryan's working at WalMart right now--and all day tmorrow and Sunday. And I don't know if I can handle it! What a dork, huh?

Al...if I do the Para job I can still work with the kids, but I'll have time to do my school work too. I'm thinking about getting my master's in social work, so if I want to I can go and work in the school after I'm done. I'll also have the option to do some counseling or work in a hospital or a nursing home, or a hospice, too, if I'd like. If nothing else, I'm goign to send my application in and hopefully be accepted, and I can defer my enr

LW told me and I checked it out. She trashed Karma once too many times I guess. Karma has a very apt name too! This is me not saying anything. *puts hands in her pockets and whistles while she walks away*...

DG...Where did it say that dabe got booted? I must have missed that? Can you steer me in the right direction? Glad to see you're back, Ali. HOw are the kids treating you? My class is generally okay, I find myself burning out already though. We have conferences next week and then Thanksgiving, so there's no student days. That will be a welcome respite, although I'll be at school all weekend finishing report cards. Nothing

Sorry I'm a little late replying to this...but GO SHEA! It takes a strong person to stand up for someone who isn't able to stand up for him/herself. And I think that it's hard for kids to understand about diabilities and such, too...not that that's an excuse, but I think it's something that you grow into...

As for the off-topic thing... I'm just glad not to be the center of this spat. In retrospect, I was probably overreacting much of the time that I felt that Karma and Brad were overcensoring; it just feels that way when you feel like your ability to express your opinions are in jeapardy. I just have an i

Oh, lets not forget the soul-destroying fatigue. That's always fun. Are you whipped all the time, too? I haven't done much research on my mom's condition, but she's ALWAYS been a sleepy little camper. I guess I never really attributed it to pain or her arthritis. Duh, Marce!

Hah, i had more than that, xtine, i held their lives in the palm of my hand at one point, but since i'm not nearly as wicked as some people seem to think i am, i just let 'em squirm for a week, as a learning aid, if you catch my drift, and then did all the "right" things. I think it's cool that you have

Oh Karen, I wish I c ould offer you some kind of comfort. My mom is in constant pain from her arthritis, and really, its no way to live. I wish I could give her just a day's relief from all of it. I wonder what my mom would be like if she could be mobile and stuff. I hope you're feeling better soon, dahling. Take care of yoU!

I use my blog as a sounding board. I write whatever I want on it. And I read stuff on JU that catches my eye. I don't even read every article of my "old favorites" because I don't know much about politics or such. JU is more of a personal thing for me. Use it for what you want to use it for. That's what it's here for I guess. If you want to write stuff like this to get it out of your system or to practice your writing or whatever, I say

Karen...what's wrong with taking a little pride in your appearance? My hair and my eyes are about all I have going for me, so if I were ever to get a bad haircut, I'm sure I'd be devastated. And...on top of this haircut, you've got D being away, the joys of being a single parent for a few weeks, etc., etc., etc. all piling on top of you right now. *I* don't think you're vain at all, for whatever that's worth. And I agree that you'll probabl

*ahem* Raises hand! May I? I'm not a parent. That's my disclaimer. I think sometimes that parents do get mired down in the "stuff=love" type of mentality. And I think kids tend to think that way, too, because that's what mom and dad think. I hope if I'm ever blessed with kids that that's not the way they think. I hope they realize that mom and dad's time and attention and affection is worth much more than the megasauras

Very interesting article, DG. I never knew these things about you. People need other people. And people who say they don't are wrong. It's not a life lived if you don't have other people. Your mom did the best she did with what she had--and I bet she's very thankful that she had you. I know I"m thankful that you're here!

Someone got off restriction! Congratulations lady! Please post away on all you think! Finally! Thanks to Brad and Dharma! SOme people like to keep throwing things in my face, and continue arguments way past their "funness" just to keep me in jail. Whatever! DG...the more i talk to you the

Brad...I don't think you're an "insensitive dad". Some kids just learn at a different pace. Some here might argue that that makes your son "stupid," but it just means that it'll click when it'll click. I have kids that are "clicking" in reading right now and it'll take other kids till the middle of the year, the end of the year, or maybe not even till next year. Practice 15 minutes a night and he'll get there. And in primary...chronological age i

Sabrina!~ I'd appreciate if you'd keep your assumptions to yourself. I do NOT have a guilty conscious, NOR do I bully my students. I don't have to be mature, I'm responsible for no one but myself No. You don't. And you're not. You're the rudest kind of condescending there is. <
