And it was followed up with another self deprecating "America Sucks" article that insisted that we as Americans need to impoverish ourselves to ease our guilt over the plight of the rest of the world; otherwise, any amount of planes driven into our skyscrapers is morally justified. Ironically enough, THAT blogger overlooks the fa

Ummmm...hello Tweedle Dum. Did you READ the article? I didn't say that the people in the towers or at the pentagon or in the airplanes deserved to be killed. They absolutely didn't. Are we, as a nation or people, aside from our government, generally self-absorbed? Pretty much. And the people who died sitting behind desks aren't really heroes. More like victims. The people who went back in to help...THOSE people are heros...altho

@ Karen. Ryan doesn't really fart that much unless its in the morning...then he's full. I'm the farter in the family...I just have a nice big tall cold glass or milk or a bowl of ice cream and let the lactose inolerance kick in... Ahhhhhh....

Is it the Praxis II, Ali? If it is...you can just buy a study book or whatever. It's probably almost the same thing I had to take...and I didn't have any problems. It's teacher pedagogy and just some general stuff...so if you've taken Algebra or whatever you'll be okay. If I hadn't taught 7/8th grade social studies though, I think I would have had a hard time with the social studies part of it...so that might be something to brush up on. Y

His version of conversation is "How ya doin'?" lol He scratches himself ALL the time. He doesn't shave all that often and I'm not a big fan of whisker burn. Sometimes I think he loves that motorcycle more than me. But he's still my best friend and I still love him.

I think he's generally harder on himself that you would ever be on him...isn't that weird? I was the same way when I was a kid...I punished myself when I knew I did something wrong... And my parents knew it. They knew I'd beat myself up over something more than they could ever punish me for it. It's hard to explain to kids that they make their own happiness. I have to admit that in my classroom I'm guilty of doing the same thing..."It real

I love JU, Brad. Points or not, I'd be here any way. JU has allowed me to sort out lots of things, tell people I love them, I miss them, and vent a whole lot of anger. It's allowed me to interact with an exceptional group of people from all over the world that I never would have been in any sort of communication with otherwise. JU is definitely worth the technical problems, so thanks to you and your team and all the hours you all put in to

When I first arrived on JU over a year ago...some of you gave me the good advice of not taking things so personally...because even though the subject at hand might be near or dear to your hearts...a comment usually isn't meant to slam your character, you know? Ryan knows...and *I* know who's writing crap for points...again...like Lucas Bailey. We both read many of you very often and wish that you'd write more for us to read.

*laughing* Oh my. I feel the need to stick up for Ziggy here, because sometimes when he says things, they come across as crass, and he in NO way means it that way. Ry's got a unique brand of sarcasm...and you just have to know him in real life to appreciate it I guess. He's a good guy. He takes care of me. We balance each other out well. First of all...Ry wasn't referring to people who have legitimate health problems or people wh

Wow....that looks GREAT, Karen. I bet you won't have much of a scar at all...give it a year...you probably won't be able to hardly even tell. How are you feeling otherwise?

Karen...we love you, too. You remind me of...me...kinda. You're kind of the glue that holds JU together, you know? Just about everyone reads you, and you're just one of those people that usually exudes kindness wherever you go on JU. People respect you because you're understanding and you genuinely care about other people. In my family...I'm usually the one that is the "glue" so to speak...I try to make sure we see one another, and I try t

To bad they don't have a "loser" category. I think I would fit into that sexually. Let's see here... You scored as A Romantic . You're a romantic through and through. You may not ever have very many partners, but it's ok. You know that it's about the person who you're having it with, and that the sex is more of a fun biproduct - a very fun biprodict. You know how to make your partner happy, and that's what it's all about. <

Ryan's mom continues to wonder why I'm not working this summer. Every time she calls, she asks. Sure, a little extra money would be nice. But I put in at least 60 hours every week for 36 weeks straight, you know? That puts me over what a normal person would do working 40 hours for all 52 weeks out of the year. I was totally frazzled by the end of the school year. I also just got home from a two week trip to Minnesota in the middle of vaca

I miss gentlemanly things. I wish Ryan would open the car door for me sometimes. Not ALL the time...but just sometimes like when we're going out or something. I'm a teacher, and I try to teacher manners. Isn't it silly that *I* have to do it? You'd think that parents would be teaching their kids to say "please" "thank you" "excuse me" and "I'm sorry" and "you're forgiven". Some parents though...work really hard with their kids abo

I would say yes as well...if parents are in charge of a minor's medical care...then they can force her. Can you force the revolver out of your 6 year old's hand? Yes. And any parent would. Because that's what's BEST for the child. A pregnant teenager isn't necessarily capable of making the wisest choice. Granted...some teenagers are better at good choices than adults are, too... I would think that for most women there's fewer emo

I was embarassed to tell my mom that I'd gotten mine. I also got violently ill the first time I got my period...so was it hormones? Was it the flu intermingled with the hormones? I don't know. It was weird though. It depends on how comfortable she is with the tampons...to tell you the truth, I couldn't use them until after I had my girly surgery. I don't know if it was user error or the surgery stretched me out a bit. I still have to use

Oh man...what we couldn't do with $2000. And its not like we don't have it. The bosses would rather spend it on lavish steak and shrimp lunches rather than necessities like paper and stuff. I'm definitely signing up for the finance committee next year. I'm not a first year teacher anymore. I'm post-probationary and I can say what I want. lol

You know...maybe I'm weird or something, but I don't have any scars from my surgery... Mind you...I had like 5 one-inch incisions and you have 1 7 inch incision...but I can't tell, other than my misshapen belly button that anything ever happened to me. I think it looks really good. Great article, LH. I don't think there's a straightforward answer to this, other than treating the problem before it happens. How do you do that? I don't know. I guess if you assume that most people graduate from high school, that's where you have the character education classes, that's where you intervene in abusive situations, because most abusers were at one time abusees. But I agree with you that parents should be notified that

I love baseball, too. I don't keep or know stats, however. I think it's just a fun, all-American sport. You don't have to pay that much attention to know what's going on, its fairly simple to understand, and let's face it... Some of them guys are just DAMN hot. lol
