My only problem, personaly, regarding earning money from my skins, would be that I would feel obligated to offer "customer support".&nbsp Right now, I skin for fun, and although I try to make it work for most people, I won't go crazy with it. If I can't figure out the problem right away, I drop it. Use it if it works, and don't use it if it doesn't. I would really hate to feel like I *had* to do anything at all. I do this for fun, and from the moment anything becomes an obligation it's not fu

It's the latest look for Longhorn proposed by Microsoft. Of course it can very well change again before the actual release.

Note that the above differs greatly from the current system in that a 1 star or a 5 stars shouldn't be so rare as a 1 or a 10 given now.&nbsp Basically now, I've always considered a 1 as "you can't get any worse than this" and a 10 "nothing can top this". While "I hate this skin" or "I love this skin" wouldn't be so rare.

Well, after going and trying out the new star rating system, it's a little clearer what it means that the system we now have because it plainly says it when you mouse over the stars: 1 star: I hate it 2 stars: I don't like it 3 stars: It's ok 4 stars: I like it 5 stars: I love it

Yes, definately 2 or 3 cases of obvious "differences of opinions", but nothing alarming.&nbsp There is indeed one well known and respected skinner who recently went about and rated a few skins. Some he liked, some he didn't. Most certainly has different tastes than others though.&nbsp But comming from that person, one has to respect his opinion (sorry, can't say the name).

BTW, about this: I was rating a skin via my new homepage How did you do that? Did I miss something?&nbsp Where do you have access to the skins library from your new homepage?&nbsp All I see are my own skins. Or were you rating your own skins?&nbsp

60 Replies 37,535 Views

Hehehe EH: ratings have a purpose, but not necessarely a meaning. &nbsp What does it mean to have a 4?&nbsp That the colors are bad? That it's technically bad? That the design is ugly? That the skin is too slow? All of the above? For each rater, there is a different meaning. If a skin gets 5 ratings, chances are the 5 ratings were given according to 5 different criterias, making the overall rating mea

Well, there are no official skinning guidelines. Nothing defines what one rating means. So everything goes, really. Veterans will remember me for my big rants against the rating system specifically because it means nothing.&nbsp Because there is no guides, because there is no rating grid, the rating values are therefore 100% personnal and therefore anybody can define his own rule on what a 1 is or what a 10 is.&nbsp Mr X gives it a 2 because he hates the color, and Mr Y gives it a 10

It could probably work if I was dragging an object on top of another, but I'm dragging files (JPGs, BMPs). But wait... maybe if I can track the mouse's position... I'll give that a try. Thanks for the tip.

Is there a way to set an object to&nbspdetect&nbspwhen it's beeing&nbsp"dragged over"? I'm making this widget and I have an object that you drop&nbspfiles onto. I'd like to have the object's opacity change from say 70% to 100%.&nbsp onMouseEnter doesn't work. It works if you have nothing on your mouse, but if you are dragging something, it has no reaction. I also tried onSetFocus. No go there either. Anybody knows?

Depends what the&nbspclocks/meters are made for.&nbsp Some are Desktop X widgets, in which case you need to install Desktop X, and some are SysMetrix skins, for which you need Sysmetrix.&nbsp Most of the time, when a skinner has other apps showing on his screenshot, he tells what it is in his description. OK, somebody explains this to me please... Say I have this code: Sub Object_OnScriptEnter &nbsp&nbspObject.SetTimer 9882, 5000 &nbsp&nbspObject.PersistStorage("current") = 0 &nbsp&nbspObject.PersistStorage("WPNum") = 15 End Sub Sub Object_OnTimer9882 &nbsp If Object.PersistStorage("current") &lt Object.PersistStorage("WPNum") Then &nbsp&nbsp&n
