Speaking of WebBlinds, Any idea from anyone in the know when it will hit 1.0 and come out of beta. I've been keeping my eye on it and have noticed it's at RC now. Any word on whether the "web optimizing" features will be turned off by default, Mike will know what I'm talking about... BTW Tabs would be nice!

UT, Object Bar over to the left under the "Library" section might give you what you are looking for in regards to a taskbar replacement. There are a few selections in the XP style.

It's not free, except for a trial period ??? I would really suggest biting the bullet and buying the whole Object Desktop packege for $50 USD. DesktopX stretches out into other programs, so runnning it without the other goodies really limits it's functionality. OD is also at the Stardock site.

The beta versions turned on the Task Scheduler, I assume to check for updates. MSN Messenger would also load at start-up, all very annoying. Now in Customize Toolbars you can check "Lock Toolbars". This prevents the toolbars from moving around when you resize IE, or from dragging them accidently. Quicktime is evil, but the sad thing is a great deal of multimedia is still Quicktime only! I tried Mozilla a few points back and wasn't that impressed. I've heard things have gotten considerably b

I broke down and downloaded it. I know I'm weak. I chose the Custom install and didn't select WMP so I can't comment on that. The personal bar does seem to be gone. I only tried it briefly in Beta, so I can't say I miss it. I am liking IE6 though... so far! 1) Smart Tags are gone. 2) Cookie Control 3) Does not turn on the task manager and MSN Messenger on Install, startup. The Beta did this <b

Only opinion here so no flaming please.... If your graphics are exact copies from the game then you need permission. No response would be the same as a NO. If your graphics are similiar but not exact then permission should be sought but lack of response would mean go for it, unless/until you hear otherwise. I couldn't imagine why "id" would mind though unless of course you were selling your skins retail.

If you have he full Object Desktop suite from Stardock, look for Skin Studio it's a great way to start. Once you get used to how the program works get your hands on Paint Shop Pro and build the bitmaps by hand. https://www.stardock.com http://www.jasc.com/

Polished yes... But they will probably be gone in a year. Never could figure out what Neoplanet's "angle" was and can't even imagine how they are making any money. The Vissary thing maybe but there are hundreds of companies offering delivered data systems. Makes you wonder if they haven't learned anything over the past few years. You have to give them credit though that is one slick looking site....
