Debug Message: Unable to open file Gfx\AreYouSure.pcx ASSERT ERROR in file g:\projects\pear\source\diskdata.cpp at line 119. Debug Message: Unable to open Bitmap file: Gfx\AreYouSure.pcx I take it this is not exactly supposed to be happening, so I took a look for the file.. not there (obviously). Any reason why it wouldn't have d/l when I updated? Any chance of grabbing it from someone? Also, when the graphic wasn't in there, the "done" dialog appeared, but the button

Congrats and well done on fixing the download resuming problem :) it's a great relief to be able to download with the confidence that it will pickup where it left off :) Thanks for the effort put in, and keep up the great work!! Brad

Have to second that textual request. the progress bar is all well and good, but when you have 80 odd meg to download on a dial up, it would be handy to know how much time it will take you on your current connection

"Can ships go to the space station and get accellerated repairs?" Well, you would think so. These things would have to be able to house repair facilities if they are star base. It would be pretty much like getting help from a planet (although at a slightly reduced rate cause they would not necessarily have all the resources at hand etc.)

hmm.. interesting thought.. having the stations almost like a planet, where they can be boarded and captured. That would make defending them a much greater priority. Although you would perhaps want to make a specialised ship for boarding one of these things, cause a few billion troops coming from a transport seems a little out of proportion

"That having been said, I'll agree that the current DGM doesn't work very well at times. " well.. that's pobably why it's not a v1.0 release yet ;P Anyway, I've turned on the /d debug parameter, and am currently doing a "second pass" on the download, and so have noticed that DGM seems to recognise the fact that the file I'm having trouble with have been downloaded, but downloads them anyway (unless I have miss read the debug messages) any way, I'll be emailing both debug_err f

I know that there are a couple other threads that are voicing concern with the DGM at the moment, but I feel that as it IS the central piece of the network, that any problem with it needs to be highlighted as much as possible. I've been trying to get the new multimedia now since it's release, and have as of this writing not gotten it down (about 3 days I think), and I just wanted to put down what I have, and others, have been finding. Originally the DGM stated that there was an

hmm.. retreating would be good. I think that was brought up in a thread a lil while ago.. something about how it could be based on the speed difference between the ships? If you add to the speed difference a bit of luck, the current level of the ship, and how damaged it is, you should have a pretty good formula for determining whether the ship managed to retreat or not.

Well.. based on what cari said, if the resources of previous aborted builds are still available for future building (ie next item you select), then showing those resources on the status is in fact correct regardless of whether you have selected "nothing" or not. So say you start building a project, expend 500 build points, switch it to nothing.. the progress bar should still be at that level because those 500 points are still available to be used. When you switch it to a new project, t

as far as 6. goes, I think that it is leaning more to where you launch a ship from orbit, and it appears directly over a ship from another race.. I've seen this happen a couple of times now, not often as it is reliant mainly on there being another ship in the "6 oclock" position in relation to the system

Just had a pyrrhic victory :CONGRAT: . Sol got invaded. My 7.5 billion troops were totally swamped by the 0.179 bil troops to the extent that I took: 4294967500 bil casualties Now I would consider that to be a tad unusual :) I remember reading that this occurred in earlier versions, so it looks like it is still hanging around. unfortunately I was not able to reproduce it on re-starting.. so the save game is useless. Any one else still getting this?
