Think that I just ran into that chat problem. Crashed on mouseover of one of the channel tabs. I'm about to head home from work, and I'll see if it runs into the same thing there, and I'll try and post a crash report. ~SDC~
Landwaster
Oh that is harsh! LOL funny though ~SDC~
Good point LOL ~SDC~
Yeah.. "gold version" might seem a lil misleading. When you have been here for as long as some of these guys have and have gone through alpha, beta, gamma versions... calling the final one the "gold" version is just another reference label to it's completion state :) hmm.. did that make sense? ~SDC~
That was just SOOO funny.. LOL a great find! ~SDC~
The size is rather.. umm.. large to say the least (at least the multimedia add-on). I also have a dial-up account (a 4 hour connection), and although the sizes are daunting, the resuming feature of SDC was the life-saver. It takes me around a day to download the WHOLE package, sometimes a lil more depending on the connection speed to the SD server. If you don't want to get a higher speed connection, be patient it IS definetly worth the wait. Otherwise do as Rasta suggests, and wait for
The small ships you saw on the screen shots were most likely trading vessels. They are there as a representation of trade routes that have been set up between two systems. They are not user controlled in any way, however are rather vunerable to attack from those damned yor who have decided they don't llke me very much *grumble mutter*.. umm.. well.. anyway.. yeah ~SDC~
Brisbane, Australia (The Aussie invasion has begun LOL ) ~SDC~
Saw a link to Drengin.net while I was investigating Object Desktop.. eventually bought both. top value! ~SDC~
Well done on a fine piece of work. All the long hard hours slaving at the keyboard have been worth it. It's great to have seen the evolution of the game from the early Alphas to what it is today. It's a real credit to Brad and the whole development team.. something to be truly proud of. :CONGRAT:
That problem usually comes up when there is a failure in connecting to the SD servers, or when Seti Spy is running.
wonderful stuff :) can't wait to see what crops up round the corner
Great :) I'll wait for the next release then and see what comes up.
I've just been glancing quickly at a few of the events and have found typos, spelling mistakes and a few cases where rewriting might be in order. So before I get into too much detail, I was wondering whether the current beta release has the most recent corrections for spelling and grammar?
Yeah, the suggestion of a save being automatically done at the end of a game was suggested some time back, when there was some major problems with submitting to the metaverse. I don't recall however whether there was any up take on the idea or not, as it seems to have died off somewhat. I know, speaking for myself at least, the option would be of great benefit especially for dial-up users. Any further word if something like this will make it into v1.0? The last I read (and that was quit
Yearly Reports: 1) Population growth: last sentence reads "...we have xx more people..." should read "...we have xx billion more people..." 2) Status Report: population change that was listed as -29.6 billion, which happened to be my population as of last year, rather than the difference between that figure and the current population Trade: 1) I'm not sure if this is a bug or by design, but you are able to ask for eg. 1000 bc for 0 months, which seems to be exactly the sam
I was just wondering whether there have been any problems noticed by others with the metaverse submission? I have just tried submitting a cultural victory, seemed to submit fine, but does not show up on the metaverse. Are there any error messages that appear in game when submission fails? There doesn't appear to be anything of interest in the debug file. Any thoughts?
Decided to give the cultural victory a go. I remembered reading that it was listing as a military defeat for sending to the metaverse. I was wondering whether this has been addressed for B4, because I got that "military defeat" result when I finished my current game?
Well, what I've always done is click on the image of the race to disable them, then click on them again to re-enable them. The options are back. I haven't tried this in this build, but it has worked in all the others
"Single quotes do have a special meaning in a number of programming languages. An apostrophe would be mistaken as a single quote in those languages. I couldn't tell you if that's actually the problem here or not though." True, although a lot languages also provide the ability to escape them so that they can be used.
I was just wondering whether the people having problem were running SetiSpy/SETI@home? I know that this does cause problems with connections to the Stardock server, and does result in getting a 1900 expirey date.
When I load a previous save game from within a game, the mini-map has the stored filters applied, however the corresponding buttons are not shown as active (ie auto-pilot destination, population etc)
I think it had to do with mass selection of ships rather than grouping as discussed here. IIRC it was something along the lines of shift-leftmouse and drag to select the ships and some other key combo (perhaps control) to select the individuals ships. but don't quote me on that, I've never actually tried it (big fleets are not usually in my playing style) As far as "fleets" go, this is a really easy way (and also less graphically demanding) to move large amounts of ships to a given poin
Ok.. kewl, thanks for the info. Must have missed it somewhere along the lines :)
1) Noticed that it is possible for ships go to into negative movement points. I haven't figured out what causes it, but it might be linked to attacking when at the limit of their movement. I have managed to get my survey ship to -64 movement points (systematically wiping out every ship on the map - quite cool). 2) I have noticed that when you click on the trade influence option (trade screen), and it displays the default "1" point trade, if you just click on the edit box, and type a nu
