This is not really a bug report. It's an observation of a problem I had with a particular set of graphics driver add-ons. I thought that it might be good to keep a note on it. When I started up galciv, windows xp pro crashed with the message: Invalid_kernel_handle stop 0x00000093 (0x00000084,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000) I've tracked it down to some new drivers that I installed for my stereo glasses that I downloaded from Nvidia (v30.87) The drivers allow t

I'm partial to the unlimited build myself. It's all comes down to a matter of resource management. If someone wants ot build a single super station.. then they should be able to. Hmm.. Death Star ring any bells? A LOT of resource were lost when it was destroyed..

I am on a 56k dial up with 4 hours session times. The update to the inital beta 2 was the only one where there could have really been any problem as the update spanned 2 sessions. Other than that, the updates have been smooth since the changes to the DGM. I'm just wondering whether it was in the DGM's list for downloading? which file should the speaktobtn have been in? Size, date? I honestly can't find anything looking remotely like it's related to it.

Had a quick look at the debug file and found the following lines of interest Debug Message: MWinEditFields::Create - Unable to find sprite sizing graphic for SpeakToBtn Debug Message: Unable to open file Gfx\\anomally_data2.pcx Debug Message: Unable to open Bitmap file: Gfx\AreYouSure.pcx

yeah.. that's the one. When I get home tonight I'll have a look see at the debug file to see whether there is anything out of the ordinary.. what's the file name for the button?.. I can check to see if I have it in the directory umm.. I guess depending on whether or not I actually have the file, will determine whether there are any other problems.

I was just wondering whether the speak to button for the minor races was released with one of the updates or not? currently I can sort of see the place holder text (up near the top left of the mini map), but it does nothing when clicked on.....

I'd have to agree that mine laying would be for a specialised ship. An observation/listening post would be a wonderful enhancement. Add a couple around and you can get a good sensor sweep (further than the sensor drones) The "Starlanes" would be an interesting feature, allow the trade ships to travel using them to reduce the time taken.. if of course there is a starbase (player or computer owned) nearby that has the Warp Accelerator module.. but throw an interdiction starbase

Diplomacy/Trading screen: 1) Wanted to end the game quickly so I traded for all the enemy planets.. the resulting list overflowed the existing area for the player's offer, and started writing to the area for the computer opponent's responses 2) If you have enough ships to display the down scroll arrow, add the last ship on the list. The arrow disappears as normal. Instead of trading the ship, cancel the operation, then go back in. The down arrow is no longer displayed. Ot

hmm... mine fields are a useful defensive tool.. lock off a section of your systems with mine fields and have a primary barrier for the enemy to get through (mind you you are also locked in at those points) This could be an interesting enhancement.

Just stumbled across this, and haven't seen it reported yet. When you go to the in game menu screen and then return to the star map, the ship details section is replaced by a description of what the star map is. What I noticed is this: Part 1: if you have a ship selected (with moves remaining), go to the menu and then return. The ship details will not be shown. Part 2: If you have another ship in the "next ship" buffer, press the find button. The details of t

Personally I play the larger maps, and go for a long term game. I don't submit mainly cause I don't get the game finished :) A new build might come in, or a crash happens, a problem grabbing the next build, work commitments, other commitments etc... I have submitted a score (a loss to be exact) and attempt to submit another one (failed to register.. think it crashed or something) but that was a while ago. There was also the save game incompatability for the last build..

"dialup connection is initiated when playing galciv" I think I might have run across it last night. I have XP installed, and I generally disable the dial up prompt as soon as I get it the first time after rebooting. As I dont usually reboot that often, I have not really paid much attention to it, however, on this occasion I was prompted just after loading GalCiv. I'll do some more checking to confirm it on my side (I have a few programs that might also be causing this), but it

I've just started up a game and mid way the computer froze (not sure why yet). In my usual manor I checked the debug.err file for any clue as to whether it was galciv that caused it. Anyway, I found that my file was approx 3.7 meg! about 50k lines with ASSERT ERROR in file g:\projects\pear\source\canvas.cpp at line 4385. also noticed this msg at the start, and was wondering if it was of note: *DEBUG ERROR: *** Too many tech requirements for tech Battleship1. Unable ad
