It's still worthwhile. I didn't play it more than a week honestly but I still got my $25 out of it. Far better than TM1 quality wise :) The driving is more fun too. Some of the tracks are a bit annoying though.
How could anything be crappier than Disciples 3?

Definately a benefit to me. I moved off D2D because they didn't have a client. Now they have an optional one (Comrade) but it's so awful I refuse to keep it installed.
I love the games. Trackmania 2 has some really odd tracks but it's still a lot of fun. Not my favorite racing game dev, but definately worthy.
While I agree with the sentiment for the most part, now it's just a fact of life...many games use a specific client. You can of course not sell those games, but then you're missing out on quite a few of the biggest hits out there. Skyrim? Nope. Battlefield 3? Nope. Deus Ex: Human Revolution? Nope. The list goes on. So if Impulse doesn't carry those, the customer is STILL driven to Steam/Origin to purchase them...and Gamesto
I do make this prediction though: in 2022, I will no longer care.
I don't expect Gamestop to still have retail stores in 2022, but unless every single publisher transitions to direct to consumer sales only, I doubt they'll be gone.
