I plan to have to reinstall someday. No big loss. Backups would be a hassle that would be for minimal gain. Perhaps someday I'll feel differently, but I've never had equipment fail on me. (Well, except for a video card or two...)
I almost signed up for it but I decided a while back I wasn't gonna leech off MS with these events anymore. They're cool enough for IT people, but I'm no longer employed in that field.

I've only played GDI, except in Kanes Wrath of course. I think the ex Westwood guys will make what games they want to make, just like any developers. As long as they feel C&C is worth their time, they'll make more.
And if it was Ubisoft, they'd release games with crap DRM, then try a game with no copy protection and not release the DLC to guarantee that fans of the game get pissed off, release the next games with worse copy protection than they'd been using before that, and wonder why nobody is buying their PC games. I have more respect for McAfee as they've at least had a great firewall when I used it. They won't last either, though. These companies will undoubtedly still live mind you, but it'll be more likely because of any OTHER tools they make than because of their antivirus. Of course, putting all these AV guys out of work could make some interesting malware writers.
Nortons newer versions are respectable but they're still not a great option. Symantec will choke and die after MSE is released.
You can have multiple anti-spyware programs (especially if you're a heavy P2P user I suppose, in which case you have plenty of that sort of thing to worry about) but for most people it's unnecessary. The discussion is soon to be moot anyway. Microsoft Security Essentials will replace Defender soon enough, and that will practically destroy the competition in the antimalware world. You don't barge into their offices and say 'Here's your website' and they say 'Great, thanks, we're not going to pay for it but you have to give it to us anyway.' So where exactly is that scenario anything like what game devs go through? Just because it isn't an MMO doesn't mean it can't apply MMO concepts, which is exactly what they're doing.

IMO what it's going to come down to is the basic fact that if you own the machine and/or the internet connection on which the act was committed, you're going to be held responsible for what occured on it unless you can prove that it was done by someone with malicious intent or that you're just too damn stupid to own a computer in the first place. All this pussyfooting around with who's responsible for what is ridiculous.

I don't care about EULAs. There's usually a written agreement on the box for online products which clearly states if you don't accept the terms, you must return the product unopened.
