I had the great pleasure to meet Neil Gaiman when he came to my school last November. I went to a private Q&A session with him that afternoon, and then went to his talk that night. He was amazing. Funny, charming, and so smart that I felt like a moron sitting in the audience. I had the even greater pleasure of getting a few of my books signed. One of the

I have to give credit where credit is due: one of my professors posted this and I just had to share it. Then, I had to try it last night. A green won the battle. I did not, however, ship it. I ate the poor thing.

A while back, I wrote an article about finding love online: Link since that time, I have been talking with a very nice young man. So far, he has proven to be funny, smart, witty, handsome, and an absolute dork. He is everything I asked Cupid for. We've spoken for hours upon hours. Long

M&M's Evolution Theory Whenever I get a package of plain M&Ms, I make it my duty to continue the strength and robustness of the candy as a species. To this end, I hold M&M duels. Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat

Long before the attacks of 9-11, America has been living a double life. We are the country of freedoms: freedom of speech, of press, of assembly. Yet we are also a country that has little problem denying these freedoms whenever we feel the need. We deny them to those not living in our country, and at times to our own citizens. Post 9-11 these crimes against freed

I was tired today. More than the usual tired. I was eyes-drooping, head-nodding, spacing-out tired. I had three cups of coffee before heading to class, and still had a difficult time trying not to nod off in the middle of lecture. During my hour break, I decided to head to my room to grab a little nap. "Who knows?" I thought, "Why not just skip choir, and

Doc ~ That's really great! I finally got up the nerve to try online dating sites because I was not interested in the drunk guys that tried to pick me up at the bar at 2am. However, once I move to a bigger city, I might see if they have any of those clubs around. San ~ I do wish you luck, and I hope you don't give up hope. In the meantime, to make V-Day more fun, try doing something nice for other people. A lot of my girls (I'm an RA in a d

As kids, we used to write letters to Santa. I have decided to write a letter to Cupid on this St. Valentine's day. Dear Cupid, All I want this Valentine's Day is, well, love. I have been a very good girl all year, and so I think I deserve to find love this year. I'm going to be specific this year though. You have tricked me before, so I'm spell

I once posted a "Funny things to do in LotR". Now, a friend has emailed this to me. And, since I promised this blog would be about dorky things, I thought it only appropriate that I post it here: #5 -- "Go not by that path, Aragorn! For my young companion Osment sees dead people!" #4 -- "Smeagol, do you like movies about gladiators?" (I like

love is going to the store for her tampons and buying nothing else to pad the order and not making her feel bad about it. Oh, my. I've never asked a guy to do that for me... but I'm sure it will happen one day. And I feel sorry for him when it does. Good one!

It is so unfair to expect another person to make your life perfect for you. I try to live by one rule: I cannot be with another another person until I am a person. I need someone who compliments me, not completes me. (And by compliment, I don't mean he tells me I look pretty... I mean we go well together) I had never heard to replace Love with my name before. That makes it very interesting.

Love is not breakfast in bed… love is a box of tissues and a bottle of Nyquil when you have a cold. Love is not chocolates for Valentine’s Day, love is chocolate during “that time of the month”. Love is not cut flowers… love is remembering to water the potted plants. Love is not fireworks… love is friendship. Love is not perfections… love is compromise.

However, since he "forgot" and "fell asleep" and all that. I'd probably wait for him to call me, just to see if he does. If he doesn't, or he "forgets" again, well inaction speaks louder than words. I was "miffed" at first, however... he sounded really sorry when he called me back. And, since he has

I think of myself as a pretty typical female. I do girlie things. I wear makeup, I get my hair fixed, and I watch chick flicks (but only sometimes) I seem, however, to have fallen into another female trap. I don't like calling guys. I want the boy to make the first move. It is very unfair of me, but hey... I'm not the only one. (yes, I realize that this is a we
