Yup I too read this artical, but from CNET. Talk about hype. If this comes to light the way they are talking about it it will be the next great thing since slide bread and cheese. I think the limit will hlp this site and not hurt it. Anybody who downloads more than 200mb obviously likes what they see. If you like it that much then just get the subscription. I do not think it is a bad policy to say "Hey, you like customizing you desktop and you see the benifit of it. So why don't you get the full version?" And I like he idea of a meter showing how much you have downloaded but only for subscribers. For others it would be a bad policy and they will use the site less
I do not see anything wrong with using pay pal. But I think teaming up with someone to sell a suite would be better. As far as ripping is concered there will always be somebody but the mojority will buy it (especially if most "rippers" know you will release it to the public anyway after a few months so it wouldn't be worth to rip) BTW releasing it to the public after a certain time frame will make you less of a target.
What is this about not liking Flash?? Flash is great, Flash is rich, Flash can be so.... flashy. As a web surfer I know that flash is the way of the web especaily now with advertising. But is it possible to make a website with flash and not know what the heck your doing??? I think it is possibl

Sounds like a plan. What are the details??? If more than 100mb then they can still use wincust but are limited to 7 downloads a day? 50mb or more are limited to 14 downloads??? Does it or will it tie into the wincustomize subscription program? BTW is there going to be another version of the wicustomize subscription set for professional GUI designers who want to join a league? For professional connections and stuff?.... just wondering....
wow! I learned some more stuff posting this thread. I have been seriously thinking about making skinning s a part of my design capabilities offered to a client. I am still a newbee at it but if I get somebody who wants a siute (allot of people are interested) I know I couldn't do it all by myself. I wouldn't even know what to charge the client. Well, anywy thanks for all of the input. BTW, does anybody know if ther will be a MAC version of this software?

I am learning allot about how things work and what happeneds behind the scenes of this site. I really like allot of the "threads" aroun here. Even the ones with the yelling and screeming. Even with misunderstandings and all, I have learns a enormous amount of information. I hope there is a solution to the problem of the bandwith. This site will most likly get more popular over the next few months so I hope Stardock can keep supporting the site as is for a little while longer. W

would somebody do a skin suite if they were paid... say 300 bucks?? once made the person or person's who commisioned it could sell it. Or just keep it for themselves (but then it would be more like 40 bucks instead of 300) just wondering......

whoops I preesed enter instead of thift In conclusion I also believe that if a "design firm" sells there work and then releases it to the public after a few months (like 6) then that will also reduce the crime factor or the "I am inspired so much by your work that I ripped it totally and then just changed the name" factor.
i think that if skins are going to be sold as a siute then it should be between 8-15 dollars. It is affordable and because of that it will mostlikly not get hacked. As for buying a siute but not having all the programs that get skinned.... well if I only had windowblins, nextstart and winamp I probably would not buy it. I would just wait a few months for the design frim to release the siute to the public.

yes... I was reading some of the threads and I noticed that myself. writing and speaking are 2 different animals. when you add body language then they become more different. well..... learning is fun... so keep a open mind and learn as much as you can.
..... interested companies in designed skins become more popular.... more skins...... more downloads..... my goodness, when does it end???
