Any sort order is possible. I have been playing around with this. Currently the order is by total tech cost. I did not think alpha sorting would be helpful. I will give it a try with Beta 4 and see what everyone things. I can also produce two versions of the quick reference one in alpha order the other in tech cost order if there is a need. As always any feedback is welcome as I am a total geek and sometimes miss the obvious :)
I agree Brad. I thought that it was quite funny. We will sell you the OS but will not support any of the programs that run on the OS that we developed.

Sorry Morden but I really hate flash sites. Easy to update is always relative when it comes to web sites. For validating changes to the configuration files a better option would be to have a combined editor/validator application(exe) that sits on the desktop.
Sorry Jurgen I think that you are going to see that Win98 is going to get less and less suport because of the different driver model it uses. Some Vendors are good at updating drivers others only update the drivers for the latest operating system such as Win Xp/Win 2000/Windows ME
There have been a lot of posts on the Creative newsgroups about similar problems so this might be related to the drivers you are using and not a bug within Galciv. I think this happens only when two sounds sources are mixed so does not show up when just playing mp3's. On Windows 2000 with the latest creative drivers and a SB Live card I do not have any problems, (there are other things that do not work but nothing major). Might be worth checking the creative newgroups and maybe try the latest dr
One other is that some ships cannot be attacked. This is a big one. It has cost me a few starbases.
Oh forgot to mention. I created a java program that parses the data files from Galciv to produce all the html pages and dot files. Whole process takes a couple of minutes. Actually takes longer to ftp the files to the host server than it does to produce them :)

The Galciv summary is created using a java package called iText. http://www.lowagie.com/iText/ The tech tree and full tech tree are created from postscript files that are created by GraphViz. The postscripts files and dot files are up on the site but not linked too. I think generally defense needs to be strengthened across the board. It is too easy to to take out the defense of a planet. I would like to see more defense technology and better defensive ships. I agree that the defensive ships as they are in orbit should have a lot lower maintenance cost as the expense of their range and speed.
An influence win is still recorded as a miltary defeat to the metaverse with a low number of points.
You can only spend as much as you can produce. You are basically making everything as quick as possible and you still have money left over. With that high a tax rate your morale is going to go down quickly.
Had the same bug myself. Very annoying esp when they destroy a space station.
Had the same thing happen in a game I just started. Some Ai ships could not be attacked. Some of my ships could not be attacked. I had not met any space pirates.
More stable but I have had a number of bugs related to screens overlaying one another. 1. I had a peace request and a tech complete screen overlay each other. 2. Tech complete screen did not come up but the little screen at the bottom right of the map said I was on the tech screen. When I click on a ship I had two sets of arrows (one for the announcer and one for the ship) Some ships still stop short of there end points. Some ships still stop at anomolies
