Ehhh I have a somewhat different idea... At some point (late) in the tech-tree there could be a morph/stealth/blitz/shield tech (dunno what one could call it). It would do like this: When doing a fast takeover on a system, when you do it all in one turn, you'd be able to make that system look like it's still owned by the enemy. I could, if needed for balance, cost some too. Story behind it is if you are fast enough they dont have time to send a distress call to their s

Hmm now when I start a game with the biggest galaxy it's abouyt 70% chance of success. The other times it exits the desktop. The only error I see is Debug Message: Possible error: number of fields is not exact. And about memory...(I'm using windows xp) Physical mem 196Mb Limit (with swap) 478Mb. Peak 234Mb Ummm wll, my comp doesnt behave like it's out of mem...it isnt lightning fast but no other games/applications complains. Niether is the OS...which it does

I found some screenshots here: http://www.stardock.com/products/gcgold/ Well worth a visit to get a reminder of old times and definatly for those that didnt play the OS/2-version. One things that I liked better in the old game is the symbol for the systems that humans have colonized. http://www.stardock.com/products/gcgold/gcg3.jpg Are the very big starmap something you have thought about for coming versions of galciv? (after the initial release that

One could also consider changing the behaviour for non-humanoid aliens. (=Yor) They could have much more use for planets that's unusable for humans. And our carbon-based systems could be of less use for them. Ehh an idea anyway :D

Well, I think it's good if most of the good planets are in the yellow systems...but IMO it'd be good if the others can host a decent planet as well. Not as good as the yellow, but good enough to want to colonize. Perhaps a scale between the other colors..so the rest differs too.

I got a strange thing with the new build. I couldnt check the planets in two blue systems. When selecting them I only got the overview-minimap and statistics on my right side. Just as if I had selected empty space. Other blue systems was fine tho :/ Nothing special in debug.err

Hehe right. I experimented and got all of his units out of orbit all the time. When they exited the orbit they just stood there. The comp player didnt move them at all. so after a little while he had about 10 units on the same spot. Well, one can go and interrupt his military/social projects too. This isnt really a new one. When one selects a system before a comp. player colonize it you can do just about everything to disturb him.. Or did you manage to control it under other ci

Ahh that's a good idea. very good. and, if stardock not chooses to implement it for some reason, it'd be great if one could choose "scale" for the main view. I might want to see more than one quadrant at a time. Like 3-5 selections between the view today (a little bit smaller than one quadrant) and 4. (Or more) That'd be great IMO, I like the overview...but in a big galaxy the minimap is kinda small... Oh, that brings up a question...how does GalCiv handle different sc

Now when most people have a three-button mouse with scroll, couldnt it be good to make use of it? I dont know to what, but scroll could be as tab and 3rd button as enter. Or anything else :-)
