Like all the improvements since the Original windows release. Still playing GCIII Crusades. A far cry from the Original Galactic Civ for OS/2 - still have a copy with 5 3.5" disks. Been a long time Frogboy, it is a classic.

After reading the various reviews, 15 so far, my belief is that Ryzen is only behind Intel's I7-7700 which is a 4x4 CPU which can get higher Freq. I believe because of the following reasons: 1. The majority of Games are written for Intel, and any coding for AMD Products is not as optimized. 2. And the games themselves for the same reason cannot see more than 4 Cores and 8 threads. 3. Even the vaunted 6900 or 6950 are not faster than Intel's 4 core's in game
Any change in hardware requirements ? Will be updating my Gaming System for the first time in 5 years now that there is some hardware competition Available. Still playing GIII 2.0, come along way since OS/2 Days.
Most games at this level have been a pain, not because of the AI, but after the Credits Available (Money) for my Empire goes to -0 , negative, which changes each turn, to a slight plus or minus Credits available. When I finally return to the + Credits side, I can have 100 Credits or 5000, the Program tells me I have N/A build turns, for Planetary, Ship, and Improvements of any kind. Of the Last 20 games I have started at these levels, only 5 have acted normally showing all time for builds of
Using ODM to install.
Windows Blinds 8.12 will not install on Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview - have latest build 10159 of Win 10. Would not apply on 10130 either. Error Code 101. Any suggestions? Thanks
Testing Vista Ultimate 64 has been an ongoing project on my Game/Test Machine. I am getting ready to switch from Dual Boot to Vista Ultimate Alone. Will be doing so on my primary machine after the first of the year. At this point very stable, and runs the software and games which I use.
How does one fix the game to get back to testing it? Does Stardock need to modify certain files in the download to effectively allow me to start using again?
Have tried to reinstall Beta 4. I am getting the following error message: "The product appears to be validated but the serial number or the machine SID don't match." Since I have had to upgrade this system motherboard other parts were upgraded also? Could that be the problem? ASUS K8N-DL , dual Opteron 246, 3 gig ECC/Reg Ram, XFX 7800 GT PCI 16 Video with 256 MB Ram, Windows Xp Pro 32 and XP Pro 64 Dual Boot. Creative labs Audigy 2 PCI Audio. Plextor PX 7
Cannot use mouse - Logitech Trackball to access Game Start up menu. Cursor wants to stay at top of screen, and only will move horizontially, in a jerky pattern. I ma running XP Pro 64 Bit on a Dual Opteron System, with 1 gig of ECC REG Ram, 2 Opteron 240's at 1.4 gig, 2 PAT Drives, and 2 SATA Drives - game is on the 1st SATA Drive - drive G. Has Nvidia Gforce 5200 AGP with 128 MB Video Ram, SB PCi Audigy 2 Card, Plextor CD-RW, and Plextor DVD Drives.
One problem. After install of BETA 2 the Mouse refuses to budge from the upper edge of teh screen. The cursor moves left to right, and back, but not down to the game interface.
So far so good. Will see if download worked. My DSL link was varying between 600K and 2.2 mbps.
Using XP Pro 64 on a Dual Opeteron system. Had the problem under XP Pro Sp1, SP2 32 Bit also. ~SDC~
Along those lines have not been able to submit games to the Meta Verse myself since august of last year. Only have a dozen or so, but unable to submit from Altarian Prophecy. Had one this am,same problem, acts like it sent the score, but when I checked it was not on the Metaverse. ~SDC~
Like all of the comments concerning hte base O/S and third party add ons, that soomn become part of the O/S. The key is, to make the UI and the underlying O/S more user friendly, not more confusing. MSFT et al should stick to refining to the basic O/S and allow third party developers the chance to improve or make the system "friendly". Inovation seems to be lacking, even in the Linux Community. Same ideas refined, not redefined or expa
One other thing. Allow the user to change the screen size. My 17 FP LCD runs natively at 1280x1024 so would like to play at that resolution. AZCOLT
And add a larger galactic map beyong the largest map now. Mght give the Human Player a greater chance of surviving in many games. AZColt
Update. No problems running Altarian Prophesy. Will see if I can complete a game toady without getting destroyed by the AI's!LOL!
BTW, do not problems with Object desktop on the XP 64 System. Smooth as silk. Make sure you grab 64 BIT drivers when you get a chance. Going to see if Altarian P will load this evening.
Running in 64 BIT Mode, the 32 BIT Saved games worked. However, have had a problem getting Altarian Prophesy to load. Will being trying again this weekend. Took about 2-3 weeks to get my copy of the XP 64 Beta from Microsoft. Thought about downloading, but even my DSL Link would take a couple hours. Also, running a second machine with an Athlon 64 3200+. But have not tried the BETA on it yet.
Have this running on an Opteron System. Games responds faster and each turn moves faster and smoother. At this point XP 64 is very stable. Anyone else BETA Testing XP 64? DID the GALCiv game Serial number work? It did on my system.
Unable to send results of the last two completed games to server. Any suggestions? This in both Version 1.9 and 1.2. [Message Edited] [Message Edited]
Would like to see GAlCiv become Dual Processor aware. That way both the Game and XP Pro will be able to distribute the Various AI threads to each Processor to aid in Performance, especially when the AI's are busy in the later stages of the game.
Unable to download. Stardock Central keeps lockin when trying to download. Any solutions?
