It's a standard HDD. How do you change the virtual memory settings?
I am wondering if your E is configured differently then C. File system type or Sharing.
Neither I have no other problem beside that with gc3
Basically it could be a disk problem. I'm not 100% sure because on c: works while on e: doesn't BUT I have no HD smart warning or any other problem. Other programs work from e: and this has been some weeks now. Anyway, from c: works.

I also checked cable. If I don't launch GC3 all is fine for days.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION Have downloaded GC3 from steam today. Installed on disk E under steam app. Launched, I get the splash screen with the Drengin and Launching......... minutes long. Then an error appears "GalCiv3.exe has stopped working" and I can only close it. At that point I'm back to desktop and have also found that the whole physical E disk disappers (not even on HW list) and gets back only with an HW restart (shutdown). OS do
Are you planning any mine fields equivalent in the game? Then we would also need mine layers modules and mine sweeper modules and sensors would have an additional role. I'd like to have them added because can add a new interdiction dimension to a mostly flat map and help less developed races to defend.
Frogboy, I've scanned the site and forum to get some basic info before joining but didn't get them all, possibly my fault. 1) what are the main improvements from GC2? 2) what is the target HW-SW for playing GC3? Win7-64, Phenom X4-945 + 8GB + Nvidia GT9500 is OK? Since Steam is also planning some linux, is that an option? 3) when do you plan alpha? whan do you plan to move to beta? Thanks for your answers from a GC and GC2 old player.
Nice to see you are back!
Thanks for continuing addition of titles for those still having tokens. That is a real "customer first" attitude. gherardo PS: just bought SINS and entrenchment. My next will be GC3. I'm too old to learn too many games.
Thanks Kryo. What is the forum address for elemental? [e classic]:)[/e]
It's since december 16th that no home page news is posted. Such silence is quite strange. What is happening? Everybody from SD moved to a new web site (galciv3) or there is just nothing to say? Thanks, Gherardo
I use XP and Linux (Ubuntu). I have tried Vista on a dual core 2GB machine and found it nice looking but useless like a playmate on the paper. Right now both companies and users are not moving massively to Vista besides the pre-installed base. They simply find no reason for all the hurdles and cost. Some are switching to Mac some to Linux, most keep XP. I assume that MS will sooner or later try to force a switch (tried it with DirectX 10), but is dangerous as could loo
I did alter the basic terran race changing the name and a few things. It happens that randomly choosing the other races the terran alliance is selected. It then happens that my ships and their ships aren't recognizable and also is a mess on the minimap. Could you better check at least that each race has a unique very different colour on the map or that I can explicitly not use some races? Thanks, Gherardo
Brad, could you post the final list of changes from 1.96 to 2.00? Possibly I missed it. Thanks, Gherardo
Marvin, what you say has completely reasonable in a real world.
I fully support n° 10 Make wormholes permanent, and not 1-time-use! That would be AWESOME! It would be even better if also freighters could use them and have them reported on the minimap as I travel them.
KzintiPatriarch, thanks a lot, I'll try. Can't understand why very different colours are not a default [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
I tried to change colours but as said, the very different colors are not that much and I have to accomodate many more races.
I agree that is the way I do now, and also I have to adjust it turn by turn. So it's doable as you say but no fun.
Thanks a lot for V2. Clearly a bonus for us. For V2: 1) race colors on the map are too close to distinguish and there are not too many clarly differente colors: what about adding a second color mapping like in flags? 2) more advanced governors like those we had even in galciv for OS/2 3) other ideas like those Planets/mines/starbases trading and minimap on diplomatic screen --></sp
Thanks Alfonse :-)
It's pleasant reading. Reccomanded. Can anyone post the link to the older story? Thanks
I think there is a "next OS" problem around in general and for Stardock too. XP is well entrenched for both professionals and gamers. The former are less than the later but pay for their games. XP end of life will be declared sooner than later. Vista is a flop besides preinstalled and MS will have to take care of it quickly. In the meantime users like me have both XP and Linux on different machines and corporations are moving slices of users to Linux where poss
