Dragoaskani, the chance that 16 GB will be insufficient without a paging file is growing. The time is not too far off that you will need to turn paging back on, (or boosting your RAM to 32 GB, if your system can accommodate it).

Here is an alternate method of getting the dump to Stardock: Put the dump in a "dropbox" like facility and put a "shared link" pointer into the text for the ticket. This will reduce the risk of the ticket creation function of rejecting the ticket. I mentioned the new(?) "force a dump" feature of the OS to thegear and he said he would pass it on to the right person at Stardock. Hopefully, we will hear back soon.
When changing memory sticks to mixed sizes you MUST check with the mother board manufacturer for which slot to put which size. It often isn't intuitive.
When you experience an infinite loop, hang, freeze, or what ever else you want to call it, You can force a dump to send to the devs within a ticket. 1) open the "task manager" (ctrl-alt-dev -> "task manager" does this) 2) under the "process" tab in the "Apps" section, find the hung task (i.e., "Galactic Civilizations III") and right click on the task. 3) left click "create dump file". Now you have a file in folder C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\Tem
One question that still needs to be answered is: Will Steam's Workshop support 64 bit games? It has been stated in the past that one of the Workshop functions is to automatically collect crash information and send it to the game creator but the function is 32 bit only, and cannot support 64 bit games. If this is true (or still true) then one of the very important advantages of Stardock games is negated -- quality support for their products. This problem, if true, can only be solved by Ste
Edited first Post, hope u like it
Excellent. I would recommend one more change. Where you say "v0.61.1 Changes:", I would recommend something like "User mod v0.61.1 Changes:"
Ah. Now I see what is going on. This is a "user mod", not something from Stardock. That is why it doesn't show up in Steam. So, what are my risks if I use these mods? What happens if some of these files are replaced by a Stardock update? Will this mod work with future Stardock updates? What happens in multiplayer? Will it allow multiple players join the game if the joining players don't have this mod? Oh, and I don't think it is appropriate f
The battle screen is only a place holder. The real work on the "battle viewer" was not ready for the last dump. We have been told that it will be in Beta 4.
And definitely open a ticket with Stardock. The setup you have is bound to be unusual, maybe even unique.
In GC3 the reason is quite simple. The AI is quite simple. It is only a place holder for the real AI which they are going to start working on next month.
Another problem is that they don't show the player's votes at all on this screen, neither the number of votes the player has or how the player's votes were tallied.
There are a couple of ways that work for me. I think I had to change a Steam option to get one of them to work. Where they go depends on your setup. F12 -- I think this is the default Steam one, and I think it goes to your screen shots folder in Steam. prt sc -- Since I have "Dropbox" installed, it goes to my dropbox folder. ????? There is the basic default one that comes with Windows. This may be prt sc or ctrl-prt sc and it goes to the system's clipboard. Y
Good questions, but no, I didn't flip any planets, and there are no Drengin starbases left anywhere. In fact, they had one and it got deleted when I conquered their last planet. If they had been moved to another planet then that planet should show up in the Drengin's planet list, which it doesn't. And I turned the FOW off and looked for any sign of them, and found none.
I Killed the Drengin. I captured all of their planets. I killed all of their ships. For many turns they have been asking for peace each and every turn. (They still have 3 rally points.) They were gone from the diplomacy screen until I reloaded the game (I took a break for the night -- saved the game, shut down my PC went to bed -- then booted, started the game and loaded from the save file). They are still asking for peace and have returned to the diplomacy screen. When I "speak to" them the
Renaming the GC3 folder will also remove GC3's access to any saved games from before the current download, which, during any Early Access, is a good thing. When Beta 4 or any other new Beta (or Alpha) build (of any game) is delivered, remember to delete all saved games from previous levels.
Are you SURE we started here? What about the strange similarity between the humans and the Altarians, huh?
I have to admit, your explanation certainly adds mystery [e digicons]:maybe:[/e]
There is a continuing discussion about this in " Mining asteroids and resources " that you may find interesting.
1. The colors of the stars are informative, or are supposed to be. The colors give an indication of where the better planets might be. This is particularly important for when the super planets get introduced. Stay tuned. 2, IRC, in GC2, the smoothing of many kinds of lined -- influence, trade paths, etc. -- didn't happen until the last one or two builds of the beta. Stay tuned.
Then there is the kid who comes up to see you playing chess with someone else and gets jealous and kicks your game all over the yard. However, Stardock does provide excellent support and has provided a bit of assistance at " GalCiv III Support FAQ ". They also have a very good track record of giving assistance. Some of things we users have run into have been: The prefs.ini file gets out of sync with the latest updat
Yes, I think it would be great if issues, problems, and loops could be submitted to the devs in game. I also remember that they had intended to use the Steam Workshop to assist in automatic submission of CTDs, but found out that Steam only supports that feature for 32bit packages, not for 64 bit. Perhaps they are waiting for Steam to get off the stick and upgrade?
In GC2 the event cut scenes would repeat, which I found slightly annoying. Now, after having them just "end", it does feel like it is unfinished.
My i7 4770 seldom exceeds 40% under normal game play (not running into a bug, for instance), but as I read the original post, it sounds like Leebo66 is saying that the game causes the CPU usage to jump to 100% when he tries to use the trackpad button 3 features and the game stalls there. Leebo66, have you opened a ticket with Stardock yet?
Bamdorf, I agree and sympathize about the font size in this forum. In fact, I just did some checking and found: 1) there is no way of specifying what font size I want in my Stardock profile, however, I did find out that I can alter the size of some of the posts(including yours) on this forum by changing an option in my browser's settings (I use Firefox, tools->options->content). I haven't figured out yet why it affects the font size on other posts, but I
I don't think Stardock has much control over the features available in their ticket submission facility as it comes from something called "Kayako help desk software". It does, however, allow you to do a search for previous reports of your problem, as long as you can get close to the wording someone else used to create a ticket.
Would it be possible to add to the star base entry in the star base list a count of the modules that still can be built on that star base? For instance, if Deep Space star base 4 can have a "Starbase Defense System" and a "Perimeter Scanners" built and already has the "Xeno Archeology Lab", "Mining Ring", and "Mining Barracks" built, can the star base entry for Deep Space star base 4 show a "2" somewhere? Or, if you select Deep Space star base 4, can it display a "2" somewhere in the
