Killswitch, I think your percentages would have to be scaled to how many opponents you are playing, or are left. For example, if you have only 33% of the military power and only one opponent then the opponent has 67% of the military power, so you should loose, not win. Of course, if you had meant to say "has 33% more military power than anyone else", then that would be different. Also, an alliance victory would have to be done a bit differently, perhaps by making the comparisons on an

This issue, or one very similar to it, came up during the beta for GC2 and was eventually "fixed" by the game charging a progressive fee for each star base built after a progressively larger minimum (based on some specific research items being researched) by the time the game got released. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens in GC3.
I know some of us are playing the game on a Surface Pro 3 because there have been posts about troubles getting it started (with solutions tried and successful) but the Surface has a Windows OS, which is not what this thread is about. Does the game support touch? I would suggest starting a new thread on that subject.
Bellack, do you know of any games that were created for the PC that have been ported to Android? What I have been hearing is that games made specifically for the Android have either been quite simple (like Solitaire for example) or were quite poor or difficult to play (screen size, memory size, resolution, ...).
Dear lord, does anyone actually bother to read the part where you can toggle this on and off? [e digicons];)[/e]
Sorry, I missed the "optional" bit, but I would suggest that the default be "off". If you want it you should have to opt in.
I think having the AI remember your behavior from past games violates the idea of a new game being a clean slate.
I think, even in GC2, that miniaturization affected the mass of the components you added to a ship, rather than affecting the ship's physical size (although it is hard to tell other than from the ship size classification). It looks from what I have seen in playing it that this is true for GC3 as well.
I really think you need to get all over Sony for making such a hash of the GPU driver update process. There are several other computer manufacturers creating havoc with users trying to update their GPU drivers as well who should also be brought into the discussion. I think it is an atrocious thing for them to have done. Anyway, I have again located the web page that describes how to force a GPU update, and it is NOT on the Intel web site (my faulty memory, sorry). Please note that thi
All-In-One desktop computer.
"Desktop"??? The Intel site clearly lists the "Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4558U CPU @ 2.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz" listed in your DxDiag output as intended for laptops. I guess Sony can use them however they want, but ... I still think you need to get your GPU driver updated somehow.
Well if they can travel in time they could interrupt events at any point and no longer have a need to eradicate the humans, indeed it might be simpler to intervene at an earlier time when much smaller action than genocide was needed.
And now we get multiple parallel universes started. Wouldn't it be fun if we could get the game to provide them, including each point at which a time line splits into two separate time lines? (Shades of "Back to t
There are two other things you may need to try: 1) show us the CPU and GPU types and driver levels from DxDiag, 2) via Steam, delete the "game content" and re-install GC3. If you do the second thing, you may need to delete the prefs.ini file again.
One thing I see is that the GPU driver you have on your laptop is "Driver Date/Size: 11/13/ 2013 09:34:50, 12148224 bytes" and Intel has two newer drivers on their website dated "10/3/201415.36.7.64.3960 (Latest)" and "8/29/201415.36.3.64.3907 (Previously released)". You may wish to try the latest driver. Another thing you could try is to delete your prefs.ini file from your "my games\GalCiv3" folder and restart CG3 (and, of course, re-e
These days we are able to find planets from our home planet. It makes me think it is silly to produce a game that takes place over 200 years in the future that is so far behind in technology to what we can do today.
The "next turn" button doesn't show up until you have completed all other actions for the turn. The button (at the bottom right) will say things like "research", "idle colony", "shipyard idle", "idle ship", etc., until you have taken care of all of them, then it will change to "turn".
The mechanics you are all talking about in GC2 did not get into the game until the very last of the Beta. It also had a bit of a balance problem when it was put in, as you discovered. From what I read in the tentative schedule, this is part of what they will be putting into the early 2015 delivery before the release, with time to evaluate and tune before release.
The current planet invasion mechanic is simply a place holder. GC2 was much more robust. The post for the tentative schedule shows combat as coming in Beta 3, tentatively slatted to be shipped sometime in December " December 2014: Beta 3 - Combat! Yor Singularity! This is the big combat update. Ground invasions, our new take on fleet combat, and the sinister mechanical Yor join the b
Another double post. Please ignore or delete.
Scorpio, check the properties of GalCiv3.exe for the last modification date and version. The file can be found in folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III and you can view the properties by right clicking on the file name and then clicking "properties" Both the "date modified" and "Product version" can be found under the "Details" tab and should show the date 10/23/2014 with a time (mine shows 10:58 AM -- I am in the PDT time zone), and version 0.51.3.0.
Did you know that as the original poster of this thread you can change the title line? When the forum's web site is having response problems like it is having today, it makes it nice and easy to get duplicates like these eliminated (assuming you can get the web site to respond at all).
With all of the stuff that can now be displayed on the main map and with the ability to set the quantity of many things at the start of a game, I now wish I had toggles for the displaying of things like anomalies, dust clouds and Nebulae, Artifacts, and Resources. Even if they were toggled together with the ones on the minimap it would be a big help.
Suddenly the GalCiv3 website quit on me and I had to resend my post, but both transitions obviously succeeded, Ignore this one.
Deleting the pref.ini file solved this problem for me. Give it a try and post your results here. It may not work for everyone, but is worth trying. (For those that don't know yet, you can find the pref.ini file at %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3 . And you will have to re-establish your preferences.)
I have seen this problem since Alpha 1 and opened a ticket for it. The problem persists with 0.51 and does not have any relationship to the UP resolution mentioned above, since I have seen it without the resolution being proposed. (The ticket was closed long ago by Stardock because there was no activity for 72 hours.)
I have noticed this problem as well, and have been doing as RadioBlues said, at least to get them started, but they still end up chasing the same anomalies or unexplored space. And I thought this problem had been solved in GC2, but I could be mis-remembering. Please have the code for autoexplore and autosurvey check were other ships are going before assigning destinations.
Much more often than not, when I am using the Diplomacy tab at the top of the screen I plan on talking to all of the other factions in the game one at a time. I find that the current behavior of returning to the main screen after trading with one faction instead of returning to the initial diplomacy screen (where I can choose to talk to another faction) requires more actions on my part. Instead, it should return to the diplomacy screen with the last faction I selected highlighted. This way th
