In the diplomatic trade screen I find the text for the trade item "Open Borders" a bit unclear and inconsistent. It reads "Allow each other's ships to pass through your respective territories without diplomatic penalty." It appears the text was designed to be used for both sides of the trade, but it shows up only on my side of the trade options (perhaps because the AI I am trading with has not yet researched the appropriate tech) and when I select it as something I want to trade the AI re

After a very recent conversation with the Stardock devs, another possibility has appeared. Just to see if it may help, try deleting your prefs.ini file. You will find it in %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv.
Jack, another thing to try is to delete your prefs, ini file in %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\GalCiv3\Saves . If this works, you are home free. If not, then you will have to work with the Devs to get this problem solved.
One that got discussed to death some time ago is the difference between Zone Of Control and Zone Of Influence. If I remember the discussion correctly then the text for the UP resolution "GalacticDomainAct" should be changed from "All member races agree to no longer build starbases, or colonize planets within the ZOC of another member race. (Players can no longer colonize or build starbase in another players ZOC." to " .... within the <span style="text-dec
Title says it all. Otherwise, how are we to know what planet the trade route will connect to?
This is all coming in Beta 3 (currently tentatively scheduled for December). What you are seeing are only placeholders for parts of the game that are still being invented. There will be something to replace the "battle graphics" GC2 had, but we haven't seen or heard anything about what they will be like other than "we think you will love them".
But then again, I'm an almost retired old fart who's way past going out chasing girls
I am retired, and if I wasn't married I would still be out chasing girls (actually, women). Why does "old" (I'm 75) have to imply lack of energy?
If the UI is misleading you, you should report it to the Devs. They may not be aware of it. Open a ticket.
One nice thing about this game is that most of the text used in it can be modified by the user. If you don't like a particular comment or joke you can edit it to suit your own taste.
Didn't you just KNOW there would be someone complaining about some of the star names? I think the advice to individuals to edit the names is good advice.
IN GCII these would convert to other civs or pirates. I think they have similar plans for this game, but haven't implemented it yet.
I remember that (now). And I think it is acceptable.
I destroyed the Drengin by conquering their last planet but their ships, star ports, and rally points all remained. Shouldn't their junk be removed (unless there will be an option that allows us to use them as target practice)?
I am playing on a huge galaxy. I have an Intel i7-4770 with 16GB, of which only about 6GB gets allocated to back up virtual memory on my PC (no suspicion of page thrashing), and a GeForce GT 640. with 4GB.
Quoting AlLanMandragoran, reply 3 Thanks, Raynman. For some reason I thought the CTD's and stuff were captured automatically and sent to SD. For future crashes I will grab the necessary files and submit the info. You're not the only on
And yet as we research techs about diplomacy we may find that the other races do indeed practice "Diplomatic Marriages". We will have to be careful, however, because the other race may procreate by devouring their mate. (Sarcasm? No, it could really be that way.)
It would be nice if there was somewhere within a selected ship's display that gave how much of a fleet's logistic allotment the selected ship would need, sort of a "logistics cost".
The choices are labeled A, B, etc. After the vote, there's a little A/B/C in a circle at the bottom of the picture of the opponents that shows how they voted. It took me a while to figure that out.
I missed that. And it looks like they all voted for themselves, which made it even more obscure. I still think this needs work, however.
I just had the game freeze when zooming out. I took a screen shot, ran SDSupportTool, and opened a ticket. Other things I noticed are that the game still seemed to be running, just not updating the window. The music kept playing, the CPU Usage meters showed usage consistent with the game still running, etc. When I minimized the window (I play in windowed mode, primarily to keep my resource monitors in view) and restored it, it came back up all black (it didn't refresh the window). I was n
When completing my first UP assembly I had some difficulty who had won the vote. I think I finally found it, but the way it is presented is so obscure it is difficult to be sure. Also, it would be nice to know who voted which way, like GC2 does.
I am finding the lists in the game difficult to work with due to the lack of sort options. 1) The ship list for the star ports is very difficult to use. The ship I want to build is hard to find because I can't sort it by name. Being able to sort it by type and/or hit points would be very useful. 2) The planet list in GC2 had many useful sort options that I would dearly like to see. 3) Being able to find my current ships by name, type, and/or characteristics is anot
After adding a ship project to a star port the OS crashed and restarted, I have created a ticket.
What kind of ship am I loading? If it is a transport, I may wish to load 10 Million troops. If it is a colony ship, I may wish to load only 1 Million colonists.
I would like very much for the game to save the camera view (tilt and zoom level). Having to re-establish it is annoying. Thanks.
I have had several hangs (or freezes) in early game play. There are several reasons this can happen. First make sure you have at least 6GB (8GB would be better) RAM on your PC (the Devs have reported that they will be reducing the RAM requirement soon). Be sure to give the game lots of time to load. It takes over a minute on my PC with an Intel i7-4770 and a GeForce GT 640 (the Devs have stated that they will be fixing a load time problem in some future patch). Then try clicking on the title
I am seeing this happen in many places, all where the size of the text exceeds the space provided in the box. Have you opened a ticket?
