Cari, Thanks for telling us about the master bug list. I hadn't known about it (and may have even asked once) and didn't know if I should have been recycling those old threads or not. Would it be possible to include a list of the bugs fixed with each build? Then we can check for odd side affects or conditions that might have been missed. Otherwise, we are basically testing in the dark. Cheers, Jack

I have seen ships repair themselves in space and in orbit, as you say, over time. Is there some expectation of what rate in which state? Just thought that if I knew I could check for it while testing. Cheers, Jack

Whoa. Perhaps I don't quite understand what you are saying, but if you manually move a flag ship onto an anomaly don't you expect to find out right away? in other words, how will what you say appear in play? Cheers, Jack

I just noticed that Autosave does not save a new game during the first few turns. Is this intentional? If so, then the autosave from previous games should be deleted before one can try to use the autosave. If not, they will loose their current new game and go back to an old one. Better yet, could an autosave be done before we get a chance to move ships on a brand new game? Cheers, Jack

I have seen it happen both ways. Perhaps it is truly random. If it gets too bad, perhaps when they start work on the smoothing of the game there might be a little added to reduce the chance that pure randomness makes the game unacceptable to some. Cheers, Jack

I lost the autosave files. I was playing with autoturn off. There was one thing I did that may have caused it. I tried to move a ship before the completions GNN screen appeared and before the tone for the GNN screen. Then the ship moved and the GNN screen popped up and the game froze. I will try to recreate it and save the autosave game files. Cheers, Jack

Yet another problem with autopilot movement after hitting the turn button. Would it be possible to change this so that autopilot movement was done by pushing the turn button when there are no other ships on manual control with movement left? If someone hit the turn button by mistake, of course, then the autopilot movement should be done anyway, but at least using the turn button would add some control back into the problem. Cheers, Jack

Now I am getting it. It is different from previous builds in that the ships that are offcentered have not been in combat (any transport would loose). I have a save file and will send it to Cari, but all it will show will be that the transport in sector 6-0 is offset from the Avatar it is with going to a tile NW of them. Cheers, Jack

Frank, I have killed all the races and they still stay on the diplomacy screen. I have been assuming that they don't have the underlaying code ready to remove them from diplomacy when they are destroyed. I thought I read somewhere that the "flag ship" was the replacement for the survey ship. Since some of the anomalies are to increase the ship's hit points, I can understand the rationale for this, but I haven't figured out how to make use of it yet. Chee

I was abusing the save/load game functions of the option menu when I got this. After positioning a "flag ship" nest to an anomaly I saved the game. Then I explored the anomaly and if I didn't get money (either 100bc or 1000bc) I loaded the game and explored the anomaly again. More than once the anomaly I got was the research completion anomaly. When I finally got some mony I had no other ships with moves left so I pressed the turn button. I should not have gotten

I was abusing the save/load game functions again. This is the exception report I got when "restoring a saved game". I had been saving/loading a game from the options menu trying to get a flag ship to explore an anomoly and give me some cash. I noticed an oddity that I wanted to check out with a full restart, but there must be something wrong with the save files because I got the following exception report. ------------------------------------------------------------ S

I searched for the earlier thread where I reported this and could not find it. The problem as been around for several builds now. The event list window will not display more than two completion events but would not display the scroll bar unless there are at least 4 completions, UNTIL the Alpha 5 build. I just finished a turn that had 5 completed projects and was unable to access any but the first two in the event list window. Cheers, Jack

Brad, I have seen a lot of things on the diplomacy screen that don't do anything. I had assumed it was because the underlying code was not yet ready. Please give us some details about what we should expect to work in diplomacy so we can let you know what else might be broken. cheers, Jack

Bjorn, The earlier releases of the OS/2 game did not have fleet movement. It came later. I hope we see being able to eventually organize fleets for group movement but I think it is too early in the development cycle to do so. It is like gross/find motor coordination development of musles in infants. Brad has mentioned in interviews about the possibility of adding a feature that allows building up fleets as a post release enhancement feature. With all that has to
