At this level (alpha build 1) I can't imagine not being able to colonize a planet as long as it is listed as habitable. I have had the same problem many times, sometimes I am able to colonize it next turn without completing any research, sometimes it takes a few turns, and now I have one I can't seem to colonize after several turns after trying it with several ships. I checked with the devs and they see this as a bug. Do you wish to report it to support, or shou
Diplomacy 1. It would be awesome if the portraits showed some emotion depending on their relation to you or their current status in the game. i.e. anger/joy depending on relations or despair if they are close to losing. This ofcourse would be pretty hard to do convincincly
I think they did it quite well in GC2. Of course, it is a bit early to have implemented it in GC3. I was waiting for a later build to see if they were going to do it again.</p
Crashes are consolidated onto a devs STeamworks page The steam crashdump call generally tries to group dumps in terms of the faulting module and the error given to the dump. The dumps are not really used to identify users but more to group crashes into groups that are similar.
So what do the devs do if they can't reproduce the problem without a save file? I tried to open a ticket but it barfed on me. I t
Current thought is to move ship production off world. You'd build a shipyard and multiple planets can send resources to them (with distance affecting efficiency).
This would work for me. One of the unique things about the GC series compared to other games I have seen (and particularly the CIV series) is the separate queues for manufacturing and ship building. It would be a real shame to remove this uniqueness.

I just had a crash. In checking the debug.err file I found these messages at the bottom of the file: Debug Message: Uploading crash report Debug Message: Considering sending report to Steam Debug Message: Really sending report to Steam Debug Message: Sending data to Steam Debug Message: Completed sending data to Steam This is the first experience with a Stardock game crashing on steam so I just wanted to kn

The icons for starbases randomly fail to show in the starbase list. the disappearance is random and unpredictable, and a later switch to the starbase list will have previously missing icons show again. <img src="data:image/bmp;base64,Qk0YlAQAAAAAADYAAAAoAAAAkAEAAPoAAAABABgAAAAAAOKTBAASCwAAEgsAAAAAAAAAAAAAeJChZ4KVbYWWeYuSeYuRb4aWaYSYbIWZbYWaboaZhZilh5qohZimhZqmiZ2niZyniJuqh5qqip6sgZaldoqaoq+5rbnBqbW+qba/rLnDrbrDq7bBq7a/rrnCp7G6cIiabIidbYidbYiebYiebIeebYiebYieboifbo

Main menu? I missed that. So in looking at the screen for the main menu for anything happening, I see a light that scans across the letters "Galactic Civilizations" about once every 5 seconds and taking about 1 second to scan across the letters. I also see some light near the top and behind the "III" that are pulsing. To that, add the background music. Now, can that really cause so much processing? One thing StarDock is partially smart about is that when you change which window has th
This is like the anomalies in GC2 that gave your ships experience; only your survey ship got the experience and the HP (lol, useless), because apparently the captains burn every artifact they get their hands on. They also run auctions in the middle of deep space, and regularly find coins worth a billion dollars.
No, this is like in GC2 when a survey ship found an anomaly that improved the repair rate of all ships in yo

I am not sure I understand the intent of "a much needed upgrade for all of the ships in your fleet." It seems to be directed to all ships in your empire, after all, who would combine a survey ship with other ships into a fleet during the early part of the game, when you are not at war with anyone? If a lone survey ship or a survey ship "fleeted" with other ships are the only ones to get the upgrade, then at least the sentence makes sense consistent with the results, but if an enhancement is l

After changing resolutions in windowed mode from 1280*768 to 1440*900, exiting and restarting, and choosing the new game option, I found that I could not view the edges of the map with the camera directly above. A program exception code "05" is an addressing exception (the program tried to access an address it did not have authorization to access). This needs to be evaluated by the Devs. You will find instructions in the support FAQ for what files to sent to the Devs and how to send them. The last paragraph lists how to submit the files to support.

I think it is good to mention here that the decision of which core or thread gets which task really ultimately belongs to the OS. I think there are some things that the SD devs can do to influence those decisions, but the control they have is not total. In short: I would never expect the load imposed by any game on any system to be totally balanced across all cores/threads.

I have also tried the smallest resolution and it starts up fine. So I have to wonder about the line in your debug file that gave me an incorrect conclusion, the one that says "Popup Manager Update: Unhiding FullScreenBink" and made me think you were running in full screen mode. Have you tried it in full screen mode, just to see if it works. After that, I think you need help from the stardock people, because I have run out of speculations on what may be the problem. Try what th

Intel drivers? Actually I see two GPU chips listed above. One is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M, and the other is a Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, which is much too generic to give me a feel for what it really is. Could you have both an integrated GPU with your CPU chip AND an NVidia card? The debug.err portion of your post lists the Intel GPU as the preferred display driver. Is that the one you wanted to use? I know people have successfully used multiple GPUs on their PCs, but they had to be careful
