My I7-4770 (3.4Ghz) is all over the scale in all cores and threads (9% to 77%), with most of the processing in Core 0 thread 0. I really hadn't expected it to be balanced, either at this point or when finished, but eventually I expect StarDock will put in some effort into spreading the load out some, to the extent the OS provides the functions to do so.

Some people have been seeing a sensitivity to display resolution size. You might try different size options in the game "options" -> "Graphics" menu. You may find something if you examine the game's debug.err file. Or you can post it here, maybe I will see something.

Have you checked for upgrades for your GPU driver? If you run DxDiag, save the results, and copy the first 50+ lines of the "Display Devices" section and past them here there may be some information that will help.

Have you tried increasing the game's window size? Your debug.err file says you are running it in full screen mode at 1280*768 and the minimum requirements posted in the Steam Store for GC3 says you need a display resolution of 1280*800 to play. Try larger resolutions if your machine can handle them. There may be a problem with using the lowest setting the game allows. EDIT: I think I may have misinterpreted one line in your debug.err file. one line says "Debug Messa
Remember, its an Alpha. This first round is most likely just a "let's see how many computers crash when they attempt to play" concept.
And it is only the first build of the alpha. When they did GC1 and GC2 they put out a new build each week.

Something that can cause unexpected performance problems is adware and/or browser hijackers. Some antivirus programs don't pay any attention to these, so you have to use other methods to find them. One is "malwarebytes", which will find adware and browser hijackers, but it should be used very carefully. Get only the basic version, not the pro. If you run the pro and another antivirus program together they get into each other's way. Run only the scan of malwarebytes and check the log.

Good luck in tracking it down. I hope you find the problem and I would really like to know what caused it (purely from a curiosity standpoint). Another post on this forum made me think of another possibility: bad memory management by the OS. Have you looked at the debug.err file yet? Perhaps there is a clue there.
-It is possible, just as it was in GalCivII, to cause a ship to move outside the supply boundaries. Since the default pathing prioritizes DownLeft over Left, for example, a ship can be instructed to path to a location three tiles DownLeft and one tile Left and which is WITHIN the supply boundaries, but the path will move through the three tiles DownLeft that are NOT within the supply boundaries before finishing the path inside the supply boundaries. If the ship runs out of moves in the
Anyway, as I said in the OP, it may not have anything to do with the game. But maybe in the alpha the game engine is not as efficient as it will be later. *shrugs*
During any alpha or beta test, you can expect debugging features to be turned on, and that they will be turned off for the full release. But I don't think this is your problem. And with your load showing 75% (high, yes, but not unreasonable) I have difficulty seeing th

Please let me add my 2¢ on this. I find that when I am looking for problems and issues that I might want to report, it is extremely difficult to find out if someone else has already mentioned it unless the issue/problem is stated in the thread title. If it is already reported, I would rather expand on it as I see the need than create a new thread. I think lists are fine for other things.

When to do the auto moves has been a problem with a lot of games. During the beta of GC1 they had it sort of sandwiched within the manual moves, but found they sometimes lost track of them and didn't do the auto moves for some or all of them.In CIV 5 they are also being done after the end of turn button is pressed. So I guess the question for the devs is when is it safer to do them and make sure they all get done.
The scrolling triggered by mousing to the edge of the screen does not appear to be working, even with the delay set to '0' in options. Scrolling via arrow keys appears to be working fine.
I just checked and mouse scrolling does not work for me either, and that is for both windowed mode and full screen mode. I am not sure it should work in windowed mode. I have seen many games and other applications have too much difficulty mouse scrolling in windowed mode.

Many people have discovered that updating to the newest GPU driver solves this problem. If you will run DxDiag and post the "Display Devices" section here then one of us will be better able to help.

I got an e-mail notification (maybe it ended up in spam folder) and you are only 1 day late on the download, so happy testing... (would say have fun, bu

I'm more inclined after reading all of these replies to suspect a back level GPU driver. Try running DxDiag and posting the "Systems information" and the "Display Devices" sections here. It could also be an audio driver, but that is rare.

One could wonder what they call the state before alpha . pre-alpha ?
Actually, I have seen them talk about "internal alpha" and "external alpha".
