I found that playing MOO2 at the advanced levels required expanding as rapidly as you can. GC1 and GC2 at even the moderate levels also require rapid colonization if you want to be successful. (During the good old days of GC/OS2 we called it the "Ferengi" method --- acquire, acquire, acquire.)

If the last ship selected is on auto pilot the "find" function will bring up the data for this ship when it can't find ships with moves left and not on autopilot.
This still happens after a complete uninstall/install.
Still happening after a complete uninstall/install.
The problem of a game reload leaving the graph/data area blank continues after a complete uninstall/install.
This still happens after a complete install/install. To get the background music back on you have to save the game, close GC2, and start up again.

As everyone may have noticed in some of my other threads I have had many problems with Beta 3 and Beta 3A vanish after I did a complete uninstall/reinstall. From the past I have learned that Stardock tries to clean up between builds to prevent what I have seen happening, but I am beginning to suspect they may have missed something this time. Cari, Scott, please advise.
It is beginning to look like the complete uninstall/install I did has an affect on this problem. I am no longer getting ships with 0 turns or ships in an automatic move mode when I use "find". I will continue to watch this to make certain. If what I am seeing is correct, it would appear that the Beta 3/3a downloads failed to remove something or replace something that it should have. I am beginning to believe that all testers should do a complete uninstall/install (including deletion o
I see this happening as well. And this is after a complete uninstall/install.
Even if the ship is well within the visible view the game centers on it. This makes it very difficult to watch areas off to the side to see the result of exploring unexplored space, and detracts from the game's playability. This is a post uninstall/install report. The problem occured both before and after uninstall/install.
This is most noticable on Gigantic galaxies and, when combined with the ultra small size of stars desplayed on the mini map, makes the entire mini map unusable. The zoom function seems to want to stay near the center of the galaxy. If the part of the galaxy is near an edge, you can't use zoom to get enough detail to tell what is there.
GC1 and GC2 have a concept of negative balance in the treasury. In GC1 if the balance was worse than -500BC then the overall approval rate started to plummet (and I mean real fast). My guess is that when the real support for morale gets put into GC2 (beta 4, from what I read) that we will see a severe penalty for allowing our treasury to go into the red.
I have been building it on my home world and many colonized planets. There is a minimum planet class on which it can be built. Also, I would imagine that the AI would be building it where it could. So is it possible that these captured planets of yours have already had it built?
The turn going MIA has changed in Beta 3. Before beta 3 there were tricks you could use to cajole the game into completing the end of turn processing. Those tricks don't work on Beta 3. Maybe if we find new tricks it will help the stardock developers figure out what is failing in Beta 3. First one to find something that breaks the lockout gets a virtual kiss from his/her favorite babe/hunk.
That's just it. At the beginning of the game you only have your home world and there are only 1 billion people on it. Run the tax rate up to 100% and the morale is still 100%. It isn't until the population gets well above 3 billion that the morale starts going down. Not at all like GC1, but then, the balancing of morale and growth are, as I understand it, not done yet. I think we will have to wait for Beta 4 to see how this will turn out.
Some advances in real life are decreases of size, weight, cost, etc.. Just look at computers, for instance. Not only have they become smaller and cheaper, but faster and more powerful. The same is true of the engines that power our jet liners (ok, maybe some of them are bigger, but they use fewer of them). So why should it be so unbelievable in a game?
I have since observed that it is impossible at the start of a game to tax people enough to lower their morale below 100%. So this report was made in error. I really didn't expect such hith morale values.
This seems to have gone away after a complete uninstall/install of the game. I'm not sure yet because it is rather early in the game, but I just exposed the flag ship of another race through exploration that was not showing through the FOW. And I have not been able to find any that do show through.
This was corrected by a complete uninstall/reinstall. I am not suggesting that everyone do this, but I think this information will help the developers.

As I think about our own real world, don't we have a very good idea what kind of star each one is? For that matter, don't we know the type of star some of the stars in some of the nearer galaxies are?
I never noticed that before. It closes all of the panels at the bottom of the main view, giving a bit more vision of the main map. Then there is a button straight down from where it was that brings it back up again. NEAT....
Thanks, PC, but that isn't what I got. BTW, uninstall with complete delete (manual delete of saved games) and reinstall worked. I have GC2 working again.
After totally bombing out of GC2 and suffering severe corruption of the game (see: https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=274&AID=85471 ) I decided to try an uninstall/install to see if that would get me running again. This was with SDC, which brought up an option to delete all associated files including skins and saved games, which I checked. But, it did not delete the games saved by GC2. (I suspect this is because GC2 saves its games in a user document directory and that sup
