See what happens when you hack your OS.
CerebroJD is correct. Please keep these types of posts in this thread:   You have a great web site you want to share? Post it here!
I work full time as a web developer, which includes graphics work as well as coding, and I have a very busy side career as a professional skinner. I believe I fit all 3 criteria.
The simplest thing to do is run a Mac style WindowBlinds skin and move your taskbar to the top of the screen. Then you can add ObjectDock and some Mac style icons for a more authentic look.
It sounds like you're having issues with ObjectDock, rather than "All these program" as you put it. What kind of video card/video memory do you have? I found the programs that use a lot of visual effects (like ObjectDock and WindowFX) ran 100% better once I got a decent video card. All of the other programs worked fine even with my old card though. WindowBlinds, DesktopX, and the rest didn't slow my PC down a bit.
One thing you can't always do with a corporate logo is jazz it up. It is what it is and that's the way they like it. Companies take their corporate identities very seriously.
Hippy submitted several skins to the GUI Olympics, just uploaded a new one here the other day, and, as part of SkinPlant, launched that new Spider-Man suite mentioned on the home page. He also dishes out quite an ass whooping in UT2004.
It sounds like you created a page for yourself at Joe User and misspelled the name you chose for it. I don't know much about JU, but there might be an option to change its name. You can reach T-Man at [email protected] . [Message Edited]
I think I do! We have a new library over there!
As far as I know, the WindowBlinds skin doesn't include toolbar icons or shell animations. Everything else is up to date.
Basically, Alienware has distribution rights to the theme and they have not released it yet. There is no word on when they will, or whether it will be exclusively available on Alienware machines. The Skins Factory was under the impression that Alienware would be releasing the theme at E3 this year, so at that time, they posted screenshots of the theme. Alienware did not release it, however, and TSF removed the screenshots.
If the link on this site isn't working for you, you can also find it here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/3624460/
That was from August 2002.
I don't think any theme uses IconX. I believe it's up to the user to turn it on or off. It isn't stored with the theme when it's zipped for distribution. If you install IconX and DX, IconX will appear as a tab in your DX settings just like it used to. Only now, you have the option of installing/running it independantly.
There's nothing a graphic designer hates worse than some no-talent know-it-all telling them how to do their craft. Crobs808 would have more success jumping into a shark tank with raw meat tied to his body. I'd tell you how I really feel, but then I probably have to exile myself.
If you draw your own picture of R2 D2, that's ok. That's considered fan art. But you can't take drawings or photos that belong to LucasFilm and use them without permission.
Everything Star Wars is copyrighted and trade marked. Permission from LucasFilm would be required to release any skins or wallpapers using Star Wars imagery. You will find plenty of science fiction style themes here though.
MindlessPuppet, as someone who stated on the GUI Olympics boards that you just couldn't manage to finish your own WB entry in time, I am suprised that you now find it so simplistic and, well, mindless. Here's my take on it... Say I make a number of free skins that lots of people enjoy. Some of those people like my work in general, look forward to each new release, and make use of the majority of them. Now, lets say I decide to make a suite of skins and charge a small fee for i
Unfortunatley, IconPackager changes many icons for all users, and not just the user who applied them. I believe it's due to a limitation in Windows itself.
He was directing you to the sticky thread at the top of the message board called " You have a great web site you want to share? Post it here! " That is where you should post the link to your site, rather than making a new post. "The thread has been locked" means that no one can post to it anymore. [Message Edited]
Haha. Yeah Gabriel, it's "Minimus".
It's a glitch that has always happened between WindowBlinds and IE if you use transparency on your scrollbar thumbs. Instead of honoring the transparency, it appears to pull a copy of the background up and down with it. There is no fix that I know of. I just try to avoid using transparency there. For example, if I want to have rounded ends on the scrollbar background, I incorporate the rounded parts into the scroll button images instead of the scroll background itself. That way
"The GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring." Those are the first two lines on the page farkusmarkus gave you a link to.
WindowFX will do that for you. https://www.stardock.com/products/windowfx/
