This is one of the never addressed, long-standing bugs with objectdock going back at least 4-5 years. There are many. The same thing happens at logon/reboot, if your mouse is not hovering over your primary monitor's screen during the startup of objectdock. Yes, the position of the mouse over one monitor or another is the key here. So if you have docks on Monitor 2, which is to the right of Monitor 1 (your primary), AND you leave th
The cpu issue was unrelated to GPUs, though it was linked to having multiple monitors I think.
Ahhh, then it definitely could be the same thing happening within the Deskscapes engine, because muliple monitors/multi-GPU cause the same consequences there. Amazingly good catch, Stardock elite. [e digicons][/e]
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, THIS WORKS!!! [e digicons][/e] I'll try it all day, but so far, no explorer crashes or maxed CPU. Kris, you might want to pass a note on whatever had to be changed to whoever is the Deskscapes Codemaster on duty these days. As I mentioned in my post before, this behavior was identical to a longstanding problem there, and if this fixxed it here, it might fix it there. Just a thought.
I've noticed on my quad core system, that explorer runs at 25% cpu useage with this version over the prior one that ran at 3% useage.
Agreed, this means that one of your cores is being hit at 100% by Explorer (which is not multithreaded in this case). And the system is just reporting it spread over four CPUs (e.g. 100%/4=25%) by default. My 8 core shows the same situation as yours in that it pegs one of the CPUs just by running...at 12.5%. YAY! This works PERFECTLY on my Geforce 295 (two discrete but identical GPUs) machine now! [e digicons][/e] The only odd behavior of note is that it seems to require one explorer.exe crash before it is stable. So when I run the beta and wobble a transparent window a few times, explorer.exe crashes. But after explorer.exe restarts, it doesn't seem to crash again...no matter what I do to it. This behavior also happens if I log off and then log on,

I have to agree with Brad here 100%. As another "power user", I just can't see how this is the least bit useful in a professional, let alone multi-monitor environment. /begin rant I see HUGE wastes of screen real estate with fullscreen weather widgets even on single, small resolution monitors. A nvidia 295 is a multiple GPU card and as such is likely to end up unsupported when both GPUs are being used (as is the case in three head mode) Yes, I am aware of that, but I wanted to see if mismatched GPUs made a difference (on my other machine) vs. matching GPUs on this test machine, which would indicate a driver issue. I realize this is unlikely to be fixed, but I thought I'd at least narrow down the parameters should w
I was able to test this beta on another system with an nVidia 295 in use all three monitors mode. It worked FLAWLESSLY until I installed Windowblinds and Deskscapes. BSOD. Testing further, I found that the animations only seem to crash if I am using BOTH Windowsblinds and Deskscapes together (which I always do). Unloading Windowblinds while running Deskscapes...no WindowFX crash. Running Windowblinds while Deskscapes is disabled...no WindowFX crash. <p
It is possible your multiple graphics card setup is the issue there as I doubt we have tested with multiple graphics cards. Looks like Lantec and I have very similar setups, although I am running nVidia cards and he is running ATI cards. So it looks like it is not an OEM driver issue, per se. Fortunately, all of y

Update for Neil: I have found that your new algorithm for handling multiple monitors with Moving Wallpapers works GREAT with multiple monitors on the same display adapter. It is very efficient with dwm.exe cycles. However, it still suffers from the same problems as other dreams when working with monitors on another/second display adapter. In those cases, it is still preferable to run two or more separate instances of Moving Wallpaper, one per monitor, in order to o
