Fascinating development. I did a test where I disabled my third monitor, which was on the second card of a nvidia 295. So now, one card serving two 30" monitors...other card doing nothing. And lo and behold the CPU% went down to 8% and it is tagged as dwm.exe again...like it used to be. I suspect that something about the new Deskscapes multimonitor/scaling code is causing a huge hiccup that exists whether or not those options are turned on in the settings. An

CarGuy, good notes... Mine is Quad Core Intel, 8gb ram, nvidia 295 (non SLI), W7ultimate64. The only real difference between us is that my machine is Multi-Monitor...and the new code was added for Multi-Monitor configurations. I just checked this on other single monitor systems and both Vista 64 ultimate and Windows 7 64 Ultimate are running at like 3% CPU (so total 12% ish) with PhotoDream or Video, etc. Is anyone else running multiple monitors? Is that th
I can confirm that for some reason dreams now take 60-70% explorer.exe CPU (I'm using PhotoDream) when they used to take only 30% or so and I believe it used to show up in task manager as using dwm.exe. I'm on Windows 7 64 as well. I noticed this happening when I turned on the multiple GPUs and scaling advanced options. Explorer was hitting 120% CPU (I'm on a quad core so that's 30% of each). So I turned it off to test and it went down to 60%. I don't
You can already use the Interface/Configure/Configure Grid option to arrange them any way you want. I know this is in Multiplicity Pro, which I have.
Tristatos, you might want to look at upgrading your OS as well. I have found the Vista and now Windows 7 to handle my ultra large resolutions (3-4x as large as yours) MUCH faster and smoother (since I run about a million aps modifying the desktop, etc.) than ever under XP. I know that is of little comfort to you, but seriously, it's really night and day.
You need to let people know what the specifications of your computer are (CPU, Ram, Display card, etc.) and the Operating System you are using. For example, Vista and/or Windows 7 will ALWAYS take 50%+ of your RAM in order to cache frequently used programs, thus speeding up your day to day operating usage. [e digicons]:D[/e]
geforce 295, non SLI mode, v191.07 drivers on Windows 7 x64. I'm running WindowBlinds and Fences on this machine as well.
Confirmed. If I hit Pause Deskscapes first, then go to the Configure, I can use the interface. But it crashes if it is forced to thread/multitask on Windows 7 x64.
My Deskscapes is running fine, but now the config program won't open under Windows 7 x64 now. It tries to open then crashes out. It opens just fine on my Vista 32 test machine. Only change recently is the upgrade to the release version (and so I see the fix in the multi GPU configuration scaling in portrait mode, for example).
Make sure the "use more ram" setting is enabled, and you have the newest display drivers for your card. I'm using a setup 3x as large as yours and I have no speed problems like you are experiencing.
No fixes to either of my reported bugs in the latest update. [e digicons]:'([/e]
Search forum threads for the solution on how to get systray and startmenu support working under 64 bit, Windows 7, etc. 8)
Do you know how long it's been since Rocketdock had an update? While it's not approaching the 2-3 years since ObjectDock has had any new features, it's starting to get up there too. [e digicons]:([/e]
Be careful...changing your system to Persian means that all Yes/No requesters become liars. [e digicons][/e]
CPU - dwm.exe is at 11-12% (via task manager) on a Quad Core 6600 (only 2.4 ghz!) so that's going to be using just under 1/2 of one core to maintain. Video - all options work as expected, nice! dwm.exe is taking 8% on the same setup, so roughly 35% of one core in all video modes. Effects - Any effects used on any dynamic dream sends all three screen backgrounds to black. This is on Windows 7 64. It look
Hey, I just wanted to bump this thread to say I found the new "Enable support for additional graphics cards (may increase CPU)" in the Deskscapes/Settings/Advanced panel and all of a sudden my third monitor (Geforce 295) started playing the Photo Dream! 8) I have one bug though...don't shoot me! In my case, monitor 3 is rotated 90 degrees (1050x1680), so while the photodream plays orientated correctly, it is scaled too narrow/too tall. The gradients and background im
Impulse does NOW. But it didn't always. It behaved VERY throttled until recently. Kudos to Stardock for opening the server/ISP spigot. 8)

(delete duplicate) Forum crash last night.
Well Enable Transparency is selected on in the Personalize/Window Color option, and I get transparency in all parts of WindowBlinds skins when I use them. Is there some way that Aero can be disabled yet WindowBlinds works or somesuch? I'd be happy to try changing/checking something if you have an idea. But you are correct, it's like Aero is flat out off for the window frames if I use that option. Weird, huh? If this helps, I don't think the preview window in
Note: Current bugs on build 214. Windows 7 x64 - In Settings/Advanced user settings (old and new interface), the "I want to use Aero window frames but keep the rest of the skin" option does not work. It turns the frames opaque and ugly/broken. It does work as expected under Vista 32. Windows 7 x64 - Explorer Background subheading does not appear under the Look & Feel tab on the old-style interface. Functionality is fine now under the New Interface s
Zubaz, The Vista 32 machine is a dual core Intel Sony laptop with 8400M nvidia onboard graphics (w/101.28 drivers), 3 gb ram, etc. The Windows 7 64 machine is a quad core Intel with 8 gb ram and one Nvidia 295 card (three monitor outs, w/190.62 drivers). Both machines are running the latest Deskscapes beta as well as the latest WindowBlinds 7 beta. The Windows 7 machine is also running the latest Fences beta. I think that's the only useful/
Neilio, that's a negatory, good buddy! [e digicons]:P[/e] In the first iterations of Deskscapes 3, turning on any effect with any dynamic .dream (ovals, photodream, etc.) would break the preview window and not work at all with your real desktop .dream. In the latest iteration, effects work as expected in the preview, but the dynamic dreams still fail to work with the desktop. Currently, they play for second or so and then pause/fail/erase/ot
I love these FX. Will these be applicable to non-video dreams, like PhotoDream, etc. in an upcoming beta/release?
