I didn't mean to get testy, but after 50 or 60 posts, the message did not seem to be getting through. So for the sake of decorum, I will apologize for calling him an idiot. I might have used Obstinate, or could have used Obtuse, but should have just let the facts speak for themselves, as observation is the best telltale of them all. I will defer final Judgement, for when the site is changed. I would be more than Happy to be proven wrong. I always am, it means I can still learn a thing or two

I think alot of other skinning sites are influenced by US, Here. When this site was built there weren't alot of BIG Sites. There were the individual User Sites and Designer Sites, Skinz.Org, Custo, Deviant, and several smaller sites, but alot of the Skinz.org crowd came here, and Brad gave us a home, Skinz.org was the Quintessential Skinz Site. As I am sure alot of folks here will back me on this, when alot of folks gather together at one watering hole, there comes to be a melding of styles

I got caught back in the Westen Digital Grey Market, Black Market deals awhile back. They claimed that a shipping container had been highjacked, and then Moved onto the reseller market. I had a bunch of them as I worked for a Reseller and OEM System Builder at the time. I have some older 4gb western Digitals that are invulnerable. and some old Winchester Drives that refuse to die. I keep them as Paperweights. I also have one of the Original HP External 2x Burners, in the closet that will not

The first thing I saw when I loaded the site was Skydicate, and i thought to myself... Hmmm I didn't know Dangruss and treetog got back together. Then I thought... Hmmm, Maybe it's a play on Lynrd Skynrd. Why not callit Rumpled4skyn, as it seems you want to piss on someone else's reputation, and steal (ahemmm..apropriate their IP.ie..their name) I mean why not call a spade a spade, or a skyn a skin, and be done with it. If you are merely going to change some letters in som

Crap and I forgot a really good one. In Lawrence of Arabia 1962 w Peter O'toole Auda abu Tayi : [to Lawrence] I carry twenty-three great wounds, all got in battle. Seventy-five men have I killed with my own hands in battle. I scatter, I burn my enemies' tents. I take away their flocks and herds. The Turks pay me a golden treasure, yet I am poor! Because *I* am a river to my people! I love this Movie and watch it at leas t once a month T.E. Lawrence : I killed

joetheblow it's not as bad as it might seem. Blowing out your box,or having a catastrophous crash is the way it goes, and the name of the game. It happens to everyone at least once. In my book it is almost cathartic. I have lost 50 to 75 GB of stuff in the blink of an eye, ya just shrug it off, cause when its' gone it's gone. I maen you can use an Undeleter Proggie, and sometimes it comes back. But the neat part about blowing it out or getting slammed with a unexpected data loss, is that each ti

I tell ya I have 2 routers, and will never make the same mistake twice... Always make sure that if you need to have more than 1 device in a networked environment, that they are of the same manufacturer. I have a Netgear Wired/Wireless Router, and my old, dependable Linksys (first Gen) Wired Router. They will work together, Barely. I have tried everything under the sun, to get them to talk together properly, but still the Network here at the house acts like it's own little fiefdom, when it comes

I do not get very much malware/ adware after Spybot S&D, and Ad-aware get done with my system. I use AVG free AntiViri or barring that I use trendMicro's Online Scanner. My real Danger does not come from without my system, but fron Within. Every instance of trouble has come from my Wifes' Machine, or my Daughters School, projects. You try and make a kid scan a floppy. I ask "Did you scan that Floppy?... She replies "Sure Daddy.." KABLOOIE... there goes that machine and it always seems to be

I would love to have a Terrabyte of something anything, Ram, Hard Drives, Macaroni. Terrabytes is like the Final Frontier for me, the only drawback being $$$ of course. Heck I have stalled Hardware wise. I would love Serial ATA, but I think I am waiting of SuperSized FlashRam, to replace everything, or something equivelent. You want a cool sound card, with accesories, get one made by Hercules. I have a Hercules Game Theatre XP, and love it... It has a breakout box that sits on the Desktop, with

I do very little backup myself. I have a base image on cdrom, it comes in at around 3GB. I do not archive emails, or alot of crap that most people think they should. What I do want to keep goes to a cdrw. If my machine gets into an unstable position, I wipe it clean and go from scratch. Now don't get me wrong, I have alot of crap on external Drives. ALOT OF CRAP I have a 55GB 1394/usb2 Drive, a 75Gb usb

I used to use drive caddies, myself..that was a good way to go back and forth from work. Partition Magic is Good, they also used to make a handy Utility called Server Magic, that fit on a floppy and You could manipulate NTFS Partitions and resize them from DOS Graphically. Acronis makes a Nice Utility also. You do not have to boot all drives as Directory Letters C, D, E, etc.. You can also map them as Folders, now that is a neat trick... it can be done via Administrators Tools, Comp

If you are using WindowsXP or W2000, or NT 4 two drives are best. The reason being is that the second drive should be installed a a master off of the secondary IDE Controller. This is so that you can make sure that the OS page file is assigned to the Secondary Drive on the 2nd IDE Channel. This allows the use of the page file to be written accross one controller and back across another. So that you are not doubling back upon yourself, which is how the system should actually be run and setup.

What the heck happened to litestep anyways? Has it stalled, or has everyone just given in to Exploder? DesktopX doesn't completely replace Exploder as a shell, right? It always had such promise... or has it gotten so stable that it is stalled to a finish?

BTW the only real difference between MS and VMWare is VMWare allows more actual access to Host resources. By example I mean USB, and SCSI Drives..MS does not support using external scsi devices and USB stuff. VMWare seems to be a little faster in usage, but the screen resolution in MSVPC, can be reized dynamically, and is a fixed resolution in VMWare.

Why dual boot at all? Just to use Win95? go to Microsoft and try out Virtual PC 2004. If you have a few apps to run in Win95 that will not run on anything else, and have a decent amount of resouces, you can load a Virtual PC, and run it from withing Windows XP. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtualpc/default.mspx Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=4A15008C-3E10-4C54-BCD5-ADC1E780715F&displaylang=en Demo Link or

I had all the family call me in the last week, questioning the need for the service pack. As we are all behind routers,(I am dual layered there) I told everyone to not worry for awhile, until such time as they buy something that just refuses to operate properly. I have the service pack and a slipstream built install as well. I installed it on a few virtual PC's both in VMWare and MS Vitual PC 2K4, and it was annoying but usable, so far. I am worndering how many Program Turds are sneaking around
