I have been a paid AVG user for quite a while, did a little research, and Norton Internet Security has done a re-write of the program and its performance, i had my doubts, with Norton and all, well i'll tell you i installed it a week ago and this thing isjust great, very low resources, the scans are really fast, i never realized how big of a resource hog AVG was, just my two cents
I have a HP w2207h 22" widescreen HDMI Monitor, and a Visiontek 4850HD video card, my present cable hookup is this: on the video card i have a DVI to HDMI adapter, then a HDMI Cable to the monitor. my question is would i get better results if i just used a DVI cable instead of adapting to HDMI?? or would my results just be the same? or would i notice improvement, (even though the graphics on the screen right now are second to none, thanks for any help and thoughts
Oh i just dont know what to think at this point
Ok thanks, it was just driving me crazy, i kind of figured it was a gaming thing, i dont play any shoot em up games, just Madden NFL, and i swore i would never be as uninformed and naive like my parents
thanks doc, i kinda thought that, but i am one of those people that even though i think that is what it is, a little reassurance goes a long way (in other words a second opinion) every now and then i get these reminders that being in my 20's was a very long time ago
Ok here goes, about a month and a half ago, i purchases an Intel DX58SO motherboard, and you know how they come will all that literature and advertisements, well it came with this tag you hang on your doorknob(like at a hotel do not disturb) and on this tag it says "Entry at Risk Fraggers Only" this has been killing me, and now i got the nerve to post it here and find out what the hell isa fragger, thanx in advance, PS i have no young kids around to ask this which i am sure know the answer we
Well my new years resolution is to be more patient when i drive my car, although the people here in Boston kinda suck at driving, throw so snow in the mix and its a recipe for disaster

Well seeing as mother nature decided to bring a big snowstorm here, which started a little while ago (10am EST) with 8+ inches due, this adds to the problem of people driving, but the wife and i and our daughters and grandchild will be spending New years eve together, none of us drink alcohol, so we are kinda boring, watch a couple of good movies like Dark Knight, The X Files, and of course Planes Trains and Automobiles for the laughs, i want to wish everyone here that has helped me when i ha
I have never had a problem with Vista (other than the copy thing before SP1 release) on this pc, it was the fastest install of any operating system yet for me, Intel DX58SOmb INtel i7 processor radeon 4850 graphics card etc, but vista runs absolutely flawlessly on this, maybe i am just lucky (highly doubt it with the last name of Murphy) but i am lucking out with this, i actually used my daughters pc with XP and kinda forgot how to do certain things, i take for granted in vista, oh well wish
Thanks everyone here for the help during the year, for the advice, and for the laughs, as well as just general chatter, have a happy new year each and every one of you, on a lighter note, i have always viewed New Years Eve as "Amateur Night" that is when people who do not normally drink alcohol to that excess decide to do so, and usually end up either in the bathroom or outside and promising god they will never drink like that again!! for all you amateurs, God knows your lying LOL

When is the target date for Windows7?? anyone know, also yes i will make the switch, one of the reasons i didnt purchase another copy of Vista in 64 bit, even with my pc being a couple of months old, i will just wait for 7, I do know all my hardware is 64 bit ready, but i couldnt justify spending the extra dough on a 64 bit copy of Vista, i did contact microsoft as i had heard for a small fee they would give you a 64bit copy, but as i had purchased an OEM version, it disqualifies it, they tol

Purchasing any type of electronics at Best Buy is a bad idea, everything else is fine, take my word on this one, they have been caught numerous times (MSNBC) of people returning computers that arent working right, then they wipe the HD and reinstall, or better yet, leave other peoples information on the drives (MSNBC investigated them) losing laptops is their forte' what appears to be slowly happening is people are going back to the mom and pop types of stores, paying a little more, but getti

I have only purchased 1 pc, and that was a packard bell 386sx with 1 meg of ram,(1990) and DOS 5, after that i decided to keep on building my own now i am running an Intel DX58SO MB, 3gb ddr3 triple channel ram, ATI 4850 PCIe video card, OCZ XTream gaming power supply, Intel i7 940 processor, the next processor up the extreme the money difference was just too much (500 bucks more)
Ok then, my daughter is catholic her husband is jewish, their child is jewish/catholic, so they get to celebrate 2 holidays, bonus for the child!!!!
what i would do, maybe a little extreme, i would disconnect and take everything out, hard drive, video card, ram, cpu, etc, and check each one, ya got nothing to lose except time, then if it still does that, i am not sure, but try eliminating one thing at a time, something could be loose, by removing everything and re install you are reseating everything,
