What I don't understand is this...... In this case (For Seed), it was a "10". You then received the following: 4, 7, 7, 10, 8, 10 Which then averages to the current "8". #17 by Lady KarmaGirl - 4/28/2003 9:15:09 AM #53 by Citizen Denny03 - 4/28/2003 2:04:23 PM hello all, i'm not here 2 start a war, but, i did give adni a 1 rating on his wall 'seeds' because it looks very bad to me, i did not rate it low to be mean, its what i thought. The WB skin is nice but....right away I found a couple of bugs. The taskbar tray doesn't stretch right when using more than single height taskbar. There's magic pink showing on one of the start panel seperators, and there's a weird black box around the selected tab. Also....the text is very hard to read on the start panel due to the black dots.

It's rather silly to start debating what the rules should be for the next contest, when in all likelihood there won't be another. Anyways....do you honestly think that everyone wouldn't be able to tell who the author is just from seeing the skin? With a few exceptions, most of the more well known skinners have very distinct looks to their skins.

Real looking gold is very hard to do...this is the closest I was able to get. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=mythology&sort=updatedate&order=Descending&library=1

No paxx, that reference wasn't specifically for you or I would have stated so. You've been on record for a long time as believing that the rating system is useless. Just making the point that many people wonder why Delicious brings this up so often. To many people it's a silly argument and pointless to bring up, but to her and others it's something that, at least in their mind, they deal with every time they upload something, therefore it shouldn't be trivialized. You don't agree that percei

It's interesting to hear such well thought out arguments regarding the rating sytem, from some people whom the sytem doesn't affect. As an example only...when is the last time you received some criticism or an "unfair" rating on a skin that you made? A year or so maybe? So maybe ratings/criticism don't seem like a big deal to you, but some people who are regular submittors fell like there's a problem and grow tired of dealing with it. Personally, it matters much less

I believe aleksyandr just doesn't have the time any more. I think he said he was enrolling in film school and moving. I'm sure from time to time he'll continue to drop in.

That's a good idea Jafo. That would probably amend many of the innacurate ratings. Just the other day I had a skin that had a rating of 9 (3 ratings), then suddenly dropped to 7 when a fourth rating was added (must have been a 2 or 3. Too bad the average number of ratings is so low.

aleksyandr comes and goes....announced a while back that he wouldn't be skinning anymore, but luckily has squeezed in a few from time to time.

It can't be out much better than jafo and paxx already did. The whole thought process that if you're not using the original graphics it would be ok is severely flawed. How would you actually be able to tell if someone did or did not use the original artists graphics. If we went down this road would it then be ok for me to make matching skins or subskins to other authors skins, without permission so long as I did it from scratch? Hardly It's a great idea in theory, but only

I have neither PSP or Photoshop Virtually all my skins are 95% MS Paint and 5% PhotoImpact. That's why I use so many flat images and rarely any glass or metal effects. I also haven't a clue how to use .tga's. I firmly believe that good skinners would still be good skinners with or without the fancy tools. Their skins would still be good, just not as "shiny" or technically advanced
