Thanks paxx! Paxx, while you're in an obliging mood....are we ever going to get that iWIN skin for XP?

Will there ever be a way for users to submit site layouts? Also...paxx, will you be updating the Charcoal layout for WC2? Kinda missing it.
"Trouble stirring"? Depends on your view of trouble I guess. At least I usually remain tactful.
He apologized in this very thread like five hours ago boxxi.
Just wanted to update everyone...I did get the prizes from Stardock (thanks again koop!), however...Crumbut is still waiting for his CD that was supposed to be sent over a year and a half ago.
Yes, I was thinking of moderation in the same sense that the wallpapers are. Quality, etc.
Wouldn't it be great if skins were moderated also? Just imagine the drama! It would be great
You can set a how many day's worth of posts you want to be shown on your Edit Account page.
Voicing my opinion and disagreeing with certain policies of the site make it appear that I'm superior? That's the response that I seem to get any time that I voice my opinion. A few more points and then I'll retire for the evening. 1. Garry.....nobody is forcing you to participate in these "whiney" threads. If you don't like hearing the voice of a dissenter, then stop reading. <
Any opposing views to yours and others is considered "whining Chef Gary? I really didn't take the too many of the replies to this thread as whining. Also, I don't think this has anything to do with paying $20 for a subscription. I think it's obvious that most have made up their minds on that issue already. Also, keep in mind that your opinion regarding anything is no more important than anyone elses irregardless of the fact that you've paid your $8 debt to 2 skinners. Many
Personally I prefer Logika.....(In my best Simpson's comic book store guy voice)......best suite EVER!
I gather that having a supporter (customer/skinner) exclusive site isn't seen as a viable solution. Is this because the cost would still be too extensive for Stardock to support, or because you really want to host a community site? Basically, what is the purpose of WC at this point? To support Stardock apps by being a library for its customers, or to be a community site? Probably both I would imagine.
More good points paxx. I'm sorry to admit that it probably would work for me though, not being successful and all.
Good point about the dead links paxx didn't think of that.
In case you missed it Brad, I did link to the news item so that everyone could read the entire discussion. I didn't feel like cutting and pasting the entire thing. I do understand the difference between displaying and hosting. You've used the Talisman example many, many times in the past for us all to understand the concept. What's with the reference to "certain skin authors" thinking everyone shoule be their servants??? Was I asking you or anyone else to serve me? Or were
Let me make clear that I posted this to have a good discussion about what people's thoughts are on this. I'm not trying to cause dissention (this time). I truly think that my thinking regarding this whole "skinning/community" is sometimes outside the norm and/or flawed. I just find it interesting to get other people's "take" on these issues. When I first read Brad's comment my thoughts were...I can find hosting for my skins anywhere. Even as free services are becoming less and less co
This is a quote from Frogboy taken from the following news item. https://www.wincustomize.com/index.asp?Cmd=full&NewsID=943 Similarly, I don''t see how skin authors think that they are doing the site a favor by allowing the site to HOST the skins. So...is this the attitude of the mojority of the people in leadership postions here (admins/wizops) or is it just Frogboy?
that''s all my skins
I think it is laughable for people to imply that this or any other skin site is doing us skinners a favor for hosting our skins. I don''t feel like doing the math tonight, but I would estimate that all skins combined require less than 3 MB of space. Naturally that''s not taking into account the bandwidth to download them. I know very few skinners who would lose any sleep over a drop in downloads. I also know very few who actually have the fantasy that they will make money from skinning. The
If changing the content margins doesn't work, then it has to be something related to the domain issue.
The "content margin" (in the user pane section)attributes control the placement of the user name. Fiddle with the left and right content margins and you should be able to move it pretty much anywhere you would like.
I don't agree either. While I didn't think the movie was excellent, It was entertaining and as good as I think possible when you consider all the elements that had to be worked in for the next installment. I will say that I'm not crazy about Hayden Christansen's (sp?) acting.
Trash???? >
Thanks guys...that did the trick.
Has anyone else been finding the site here dreadfully slow for the last week or so? Even with icons off and it "optimized for speed", it's very slow loading.
