if your info pane is glass AND normal...inactive maxxed windows have this crappy mouseover color blocks.
All 'glass' images should use the solid images for maxed windows. Also for all glass elements I've noticed its better to have the option "Copy alpha channel directly' enabled.
Most elements so far have an alternate state or image for maxxed windows.Do the list view header bars have one?
Where are you turning this on at? Never seen it (still findi

Can't say I've noticed either of those last 2 IR (and I just checked them on my current skin) so I'm not sure how its happening or how to fix it. The text and its color on the IE tabs can not be changed that I know of, maybe one day. **Edit** Correction, on the 'windows explorer' windows I do see that one thing happening on the maxed windows... still not sure there is a correction for it yet.
Way to go Jimbo, heres to 100,000 more :CONGRAT:
theres no way anyone would use 200 layers in a start panel
orly? hum... um... ok o_O

That 'white block' is being cause by the "Blur Left margin" setting. All those settings are for irregular taskbars (like those that do not go all the way across the screen). In your case set all your blur margins to 0 as it does go all the way across and so forth.
has anyone got the IE7 background to work
Is there even a 'section' to skin that? I don't recall and can find it if there is. I do know it uses the toolbar background to skin that and (for whatever odd reason) pure white acts as clear on the 'tab corners' and 'Bottom Tba Bar' (just wierd).
ok update Tim (2of3) was having a problem with the blur and using shadows. Even though his shadows were pure black they were still bluring the background. I played around and this is the new conclsion... On one of the frame sections there was not a pure clear line of pixels. So the perpixel fame sections need to also have a 'clear' line of pixels (like on the otter edge). Also, the blur will still try to work in a square so you must adjust the 'roundness' of the blur in the ext
I will take a look into this. That menu should only use the MSMenus section. Be aware that it does not support transparency (magic pink or per pixel)
Hey your talking to some 'masters' here we know hehe ;) Thanks for checking into this man :)
far as I know its always been like this.
um, no heh Come on John you of all people should know how blokes like us are VERY particular about that sort of thing. I've seen it happen like that when there is no specifically skinned favorites menu. Or, when you've tried to use a semitransparent background.. ect ect. But I've not seen it happen when properly skinned before. Maybe something in one of the latest updates? Actually just had a thought of one of the dif
Well I just did each for my latest thing and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, however the design of it wasn't rounded corners or anything either, its a pretty rigid design. ~shrug~
you can change some of those text colors but most of the ones you pointed out you can not. For a listing of what is known so far on text color changes check out the thread below I started awhile back (it DOES work). The 'file info' text colors you can not change and the search box text color you can't either (that I know of at least). Oh, and command bar text does not change color on mouseover. I see now you found it ;) linked anyways [link="https://forums.wincustomize.com/313381"
Yeah NightTrain is correct, you shouldn't be having that problem in the first place. (Sometimes the simplest answer eludes one hehe) :)
2 - Frames have dimension limits too, if you experiencing strange problems and your frames images are too big or too small, try change 'em, may help too.
Lasse and I briefly discussed this too.. he thinks 40 pixels is the widest that can be done on per pixel frames for the sides and the top and bottom are limitless. I havn't tested this (like I'll make anything THAT big anyway, not my style) but, this could be very true. I don't tend to question Lasse to much on some thin
Wait you art directed one time right? lol. Was it like... "put the pink thing over there"? I'm sure you were a big help. No doubt.
Ok I wasn't going to get into this thing at all (but its been sooo much fun reading it). However this comment does in an abstract way pertain to me. Bebi was quite instrumental in the creation of the Crystalline. Probably on the same level as Jeff is on TSF stuff. She has been using skins for a very long time and has a very critical eye for what sh
It looks as if you just need to adjust the text margins for the 'Places list' (right side) side of the start menu. You can do this by opening the skin in SKS6 go to "Edit Start menu and Taskbar" > Edit Start menu > Places List > Text (tab) and adjust the olive/yellow color. However, it looks like in the above screenshots you adjusted the actual size of the places list. To do this you would need to increase the size of the top and bottom bars of the start menu then increase the size of t
hmmmmmmmm...not here its not.
In SKS6 go to "Change Skin Colours" > Show me the skin defined system colours > Window background works here every time for me ~shrug~
Great tip.. Thank you!

Very interesting Read.

great article! :O
Thanks just hope it helps to prove useful in future skin development and leads to a 'full' understanding of the inner workings of this feature and its oddities. ;) Again, if you know 'anything' more on the subject then share it :D
vStyler and I had been noticing wierd incongruities in blurring...and they go beyond even this great explanation.
Please by all means explain, share and show what you have noticed and seen then. Maybe we can resolve and/or figure them out.
That dosnt work...it moved from the xy coordinates but wouldnt budge with margins...no margin setting tried(and I tried a lot)would alter the position of that search icon(or the searchbar itself).Redesigning or resizing the bottom bar is unacceptable.Power buttons will not move at all away from the searchbar.
ok I tried to 'duplicate' the 'error' but nothing I do causes the searchbox text and/or icon to 'relocate' to an odd position. I tried moving text margins for the bo
all progs menu is the wrong color...it looks like the classic button face color...can it be set different than the button color?
Color of the 'All Programs' mouseover is set by the Menu Higthlight. The All Programs background is set by your windows background color. Also the left side of vista start menus should be wider so you can actually read the items pretty well. np :) you had me worried hehe
