We understand what's unhappy with the textures on XP. I will plan to put a new build up on Wednesday to tweak that. Kris

ArcaVir is giving a false positive, it's reproducible with their online scanner. I've emailed their support people to let them know. Feel free to run the setup program through http://www.virustotal.com for piece of mind. It'll scan it with 41 different scanners. Kris
It's possible there's some wonkiness with how the new update for the beta was staged tonight. We'll look at it more tomorrow, but I didn't see the error about when testing on vista32 tonight.
The server-side response needed a kick. Restart the game (or logout of your in-game profile and then back in) and your favor should be all set.
I'm not getting kickbacks, but in the vein of backups, I'll add that I'm quite happy using Jungle Disk (http://www.jungledisk.com/) to keep some core files off my home pc. I have a WHS box and some other backups as well. There are other services which will backup everything on the PC for a not unreasonable yearly price, considering the gnashing of teeth if you lose it all.
You will need to have Show pre-release checked in Impulse under the preferences to be able to download the beta.
There was some unexpected store maintenance issues today as we worked on some things, but that should not have impacted anyone logging onto the Demigod servers and hosting or playing games. When this thread came up and some people on irc reported problems, I tested logging in with multiple accounts and did not have issues. Delving deeper into what could be a problem, I did find one server in the Demigod logon cluster that was potentially lagging. So I shut it off for the momen
Now that we have the final RTM Win7 code, we've checked into this and it does not appear to be an issue with the release. http://windowsfixup.com/2009/05/windows-7-build-7122-fixes-game-issues/ suggests it was an issue with the RC builds and they include the workaround steps posted above. I am going to be republishing new revisions of the Twilight/Endless Universe/Ultimate installs on Impulse either today or Monday. These do not change the game, but work around some issue Win7
I'll check after Thursday, when it's on MSDN. :) ty Kris
While we hit some snags during the process, everything should have been sorted for the last 6+ hours or so. Ideally, we try and handle site updates in one fell swoop and/or in the wee small hours of the morning, but this one needed more hands on deck as it impacted multiple sites at the same time. If you feel something especially new is broken over the holiday weekend with regards to the forums, please drop a note to kwilas at stardock com. Kris
I believe it's all set now. Some of the new XML data wasn't sticking as it propogated out to the other download servers.
We've gotten a pair of 8800's and reproduced this in SLI. Trying to figure out what's wrong, happening across a variety of drivers. At least with our config, running in single-card mode has seemed to be ok. Anything with 4x AA and higher in SLI-mode showed the issue with this combo. Kris
For the initial entrenchment release, uninstalling it will remove Sins as well to make sure any files leftover from earlier Sins betas are removed. The beta files initially went in Sins folders and you could only run Entrenchment. Later betas changed that so Sins and Entrenchment could be updated and run independently, but there wasn't a means to cleanup the older betas method short of uninstalling. That's impacting uninstalls of regular release Entrenchment atm until a little
godoggo, please contact support. Best guess is you ordered under a different email than your Impulse account. You don't need to buy it again, they can merge the account. There is not a new manual. Kris
We try and release at ~1pm EST whenever possible. Not 100%, but more likely than any other hour of the day. To attempt to make sure there aren't potential problems for people who had earlier betas and didn't uninstall for beta3, everyone with an Entrenchment beta is getting prompted to uninstall. That said... If you're 100% sure you're good from the beta 3 update and want to try and get just the Entrenchment files (and the 1.15 update), delete your beta Sins of a Solar
We're going to be trying with some additional SLI setups. For reference, though I can't promise we can match it exactly, what vendor's cards and what motherboard are you using? Kris
Please see your emails for a test application and information to try and help us narrow this down. Kris
Remove c:\programdata\ironclad games\sins of a solar empire\license\sig.bin on Vista. Or the corresponding version on XP under Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ironclad Games.... etc. Kris
Don't try and verify the build. I had to do "things" to try and make it as happy as possible for people who had the previous betas and that's something that it's not happy with atm. If you did run verify for some reason, run the sinsentrench_post2.exe file. It'll delete the 2 files that the EXE is keying on to see that you had uninstalled.
You need MyColors to apply it, but if you have IP Enh and WB Enh installed, it'll use them under the covers.
One of the emails is running ahead of the scripts that are updating everybody's database entries. If you don't have it by Thursday mid-day, then please contact support.
The pre-orders are being charged. This will take a couple of hours (based on past experiences). As they go through, you'll get an email receipt and be able to use Impulse to download. It'll just show up as a new item when you logon to Impulse.
Now that the beta is available, PayPal should be possible.
I've changed the download link as cnet's pages seem not to be working. There's a direct download link. Please note that's only for the XP version atm. Kris
