The store was updated shortly after you posted last night. It's getting proper SDC download links for GalCiv and Drengin customers sent out when you use http://www.stardock.com/support to resend your serial.

It comes with a printed manual. It's not "great" like the Civ3 or the Baldur's Gate II manual. BGII was a great one, spiral bound so it would fold out and rest flat. ;-)
For the record, it had nothing to do with WISE. Variable in the SDC not being initialized in time. We're on irc.stardock.com, #galciv.
There will be a standalone installer for the BonusPak (about 7MB) available for download. You'll have to enter your serial number and email address to get it. Should be available by the end of the day.
The standalone bonuspak download is ready and should be available later today. When you install as a complete download through SDC, it's available there as well.
At any given point in time, there is liable to be only one "master" file that can be used to update to new content without the SDC. Initially, that'll be the BonusPak download (about 7MB). A few weeks or a couple of months down the road, when the Expansion Pak is ready, what's most likely is that update will become the one "master" file that you can get standalone. We're not keen on requiring you to get multiple files to have all the new goodies.
If you have not already rebooted, you should just be able to do the extract steps. No need for any of the boot floppies or CD's.
Technically, Sol will never be a supernova. It's not massive enough for a Type II supernova and we don't have a companion dwarf star for a Type I. In about 5 billion years, after going through an expansion phase and reaching out past the orbit of Earth, it'll eventually start sloughing off material in the form of a planetary nebula as transitions to be a white dwarf.
Its quite possible for you to play like the Shadows as well. Supplying money, ships, techs, even planets to another race in exchange for them doing your dirty work.
I'm unclear what question you're looking to have answered about a "discount".
If you sit down to play "just a couple of turns" at 10pm and don't even get out of the chair until dawn, you may be addicted to GalCiv. [true story]
Fear the AI that gets ahold of these. It can sit there and optimize the spending each and every turn on each and every planet if it wants.
I firmly believe that you're going to see more and more games, applications, and other content available this way. Some of the difficulties are that for a Blizzard or an EA, its not problem to have their products in every shop known to mankind. So the need to be able to provide delivery-on-demand of the base content is more of a nice extra for them. The smaller you are, the more the logistics are a problem as well. It's our years of experience with Object Desktop (and to a les
Your version is too old and its not auto-updating (there was a bug). Install http://storage.stardock.com/files/stardockcentral098a.exe on top of it and you should have the Stardock.net logon option. ~SDC~
There will be a PDF manual available for download as well as one being included on the CD's that come directly from Stardock. The full retail box contains an already printed manual. Based on our experience shipping down under through the US Postal Service, it takes somewhere around 10-14 days for a package to get there. Other shipping services (if you can order through online shops) may be faster, but are liable to cost more for shipping. ~SDC~
A print-ready PDF is on the CD's that'll come directly from Stardock. ~SDC~
I'm not 100% sure we nailed this exact one, but we did find some other issues which might have caused it. If you can auto-update with the SDC (just load it), please go ahead. If not: http://storage.stardock.com/files/stardockcentral098a.exe should be installed.
SkinStudio is up there (refresh app data). To see WB, you'll need to select the Show Pre-release versions option under the View menu. Visit here for more about SDC: news://news.stardock.com/stardock.sdcentral
Thank you for the followup. We're checking into this now.
Some companies require you to keep the CD in the drive. Others (though not so many recently :) make you look up esoteric references in a manual to prove that you're you. Like games that require unique serial numbers for online play, GalCiv requires internet access to be able to download additional features. And we're using that same system to distribute the game for people who don't want a CD or can't otherwise realistically order the game where they live. Stardock Central has to be co
You have two computers: one at home without an internet connection and one that you have legitimate access to elsewhere (running Windows). On the Internet-accessible PC, install from the GalCiv CD and then install Stardock Central(SDC). It'll see you've got the retail CD and will just download the files necessary to update that to the BonusPak or future updates. You installed the CD first so SDC wouldn't go and fetch the full hundreds of megs of the game. The SDC includes an
Only orders placed from Michigan zip codes have sales tax charged as part of the order. I can't speak to anything relating to shipping overseas or whatnot, see above for some comments on that.
Nidaros' slick copy isn't even totally "real". We're actually manufacturing CD's, professionally screened, printed, etc. and these will be available directly from Stardock. Will include a PDF copy of the manual as well, but no printed manual.
We'll be resetting the dates to start everyone off with a year in the coming days. You're not going to lose anything.
Stardock Central will let you create an archive of the game. You can burn this to CD and transfer the whole thing from work to home. Including new content as its made available. You will have to install Stardock Central on your home PC and use it to restore the GC archive. There are no plans for creating special "bonus pack" CD's or the like in the near future. The content will be manageable enough in size for dialup users and we don't want to get into instances of "well, I ha
