The unsupported windowed version will run in a 1024x768 window. So if your desktop is only 1024x768, it's pretty much full-screen. Another caveat is that you have to run your desktop in 16-bit color mode.

A web page will be available with this option shortly. You'll have to enter your Galactic Civilizations serial in order to proceed. At a later point, after we get the first set of orders shipped, we'll make the CD option available for Drengin.net users as well. In these initial days though, we're trying to keep things simple and so the CD offer for GalCiv customers comes first.

The GalCiv Theme Manager contains a GalCiv WinStyles theme with a wallpaper and WB skin. It also includes the OEM versions of WB/IP/WS to apply those. It's the same technology/packaging solution that nVidia and Nintendo offer some themes with.

GROGK, keep it civil. We don't generally censor discussion here or in our other venues, but personal attacks will not be tolerated. And if we're not all old enough to recognize that this isn't the place to crack wise about the French, then I'll make it clear. It's not.

In addition to what Space_Dust is hinting at, there are two bits that are included with the retail packaging that haven't been seen yet. Specifically: a "quickstart" insert in the box with some initial tops. And an included "Survival Guide" (HTML) that takes you through the initial screens and first couple of turns of the game. I don't recall how long the walkthrough portion of the manual ran, but that's there as well. ~SDC~

We hope to be able to announce more specifics of that in the coming days. We don't have firm dates available to share yet. You'll be able to order it directly from us and download it as well as optionally having a CD sent in addition to local European availability.

No, but there will be an option available to get a GalCiv (if you already have Drengin or GalCiv) for the cost of shipping/handling. $5 in the US and $10 internationally. There is not a "complete Drengin.net CD". ~SDC~

On March 26th, you'll be able to get it at local stores in North America. Details about European retail availability will be announced as they're finalized. On the 26th, you'll be able to download it directly from Stardock and for an additional $10 have a CD sent. There won't be a printed manual or the actual retail box, but the packaging is still nice.

We've discussed things like you mention, but there were limits on what could practically be done for 1.0. There are already all sorts of other bits in the code for providing different bonuses, creation, etc., but they're not hooked up to any of the techs at the moment.

There is a printed manual in the retail box. The downloadable versions and their accompanying CD shipments will include an online version of same. The base ship information is readily available in some of the text files that come with galciv. JavaScout's website breaks these out into a more browseable format. http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/ That said, remember that is the base ship info. Technologies, improvements, political parties, starbase modules, and
