I get similiar problems- Improved w/ iprepair.dll disabled, but many types of icons are unassigned. I can't find a way to access IP ver 3.00[b].093. It won't appear in StarDock Central (SC) & I can't find another way to access it through SD's site. SC continues to show 3.00f[b].002. I checked my cache and there is no IP folder to purge. I also renamed my IP backup file in case SC was reloading 3.00f[b].002 from there. After uninstall,

OK... My archives are on a different partition from OD, but I checked in case there was a loose IP archive I accidentally saved elsewhere...Not. Then I temporarily renamed the IP backup in my StarDock archive so StarDock Central (SC) wouldn't use it if I reinstalled IP. Also I checked the cache for IP files, but there was no IP folder present. Next I did the uninstall, reboot, reinstall reboot. SC (v 2.10.343 build 95) still showed that
Think of it this way: You're not at your peak, facing years of decline. You're doing something that is open-ended in terms of the skills you develop & the pleasure you get from it. Enjoy!
Thanks Corky-- I'll check it in the mornin' & post the answer
Whoa! Fixed! iprepair.dll --> XXXiprepair.dll --> Thanks, folks!
Tonight when I did the uninstall IP 3.00b.002, followed by rebooting, then unregistering & deleting iprepair.dll, followed by rebooting-- then reinstalling, the uninstalling & reinstalling parts were done with SC. I got 3.00b.002 again. I'm going to try #1 above & if it doesn't work I'll try #2. Then I'll go to sleep & maybe tomorrow SC will give me 3.00b.093 <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0 ALIGN="
IP replaces the icons on my .exe files (& consequently all their shortcuts) with the generic icon from the icon pkg I loaded. I'm running IP 3.00b.002 which includes the dreaded iprepair.dll. In reading through recent posts, it's hard to say whether there's a workaround using IP 3.00b.002. There seems to be agreememt that IP 3.00b.093 works, but I can't find a way to get to it. StarDock Central (SC) reloads IP 3.00b.002. Going through
Woop-- Developer horizon- I just read the rest of your post-guess I'll just second what you said...
4 touch/pressure sensative thingys, universal ball bearing, tangleywiredness, bar of soap No rope-a-dope... My Logitech doesn't have any universal ball bearing or tangleywiredness & it was <$30 five years ago. It has everything it needs (& I think the new ones are dock-rechargable-- I use a coup
For some reason, Theme Manager (TM) added quite a few .bmps & .jpgs from My Pictures to its internal list of wallpapers. Most of the images TM added are little things, inappropriate for walls. I don't keep any walls in My Pictures & I can't seem to get rid of the ones TM pulls in. I found a stash of them somewhere on my C: drive (OD including TM is installed of F:\), but when I deleted them, TM gathered in more. How do I stop this behavior?
Oooo! I can hardly afford to look at those!
As long as I'm asking about video cards... I haven't been keeping up. (blush) When I got my last card, the video adapters built into motherboards used memory that otherwise would be available for processing, so having a card with its own RAM improved performance. The other day, somebody told me it's no longer a problem & built-in video is a good buy. Of course, there's still the issue of being stuck with whatever video is b
I put my PC together about 4 years ago & once it was pretty decent. I probably won't be able to upgrade for at least 6 months. Motherboard; Asus, PC133 CPU: Pentium III, 670 MHz Memory: 500 MB SDRAM Video: ATI Rage Fury Pro 128/Xpert 2000 Pro - 32 MB (AGP) [LOL- don't think they could find more superlatives to put in the name] In WindowFx Performance advice, it basically says, "You poor thing." Actually it lists
NO! The program could have been changed in a way that makes it unnecessary.
RE Vista- what's wrong with using version numbers like a real program? RE Longhorn- I was hoping it wasn't political
Just an observation: Skins in some categories (WBs, IPs) tend to get alot of comments, but in other categories (Misc Icons, OD items, Boots), most submissions don't get comments, though they may get alot of downloads, One of the things I like about WC: The lack of put-downs & flaming. When there's criticism, it's almost always constructive in nature, This kind of interaction lets the skinner learn & improve & it says alot about the adm
Thank you GreenReaper! You helped me have a much better understanding of DX. I wouldn't make a decidion about whether to use a DX desk vs a WB based on resources- I was just asking about that point as one way of seeing the differences. I appreciate the chance to put a few more pieces into the puzzle.
I wondered about that smell...
I use several parts of OD, but hadn't gotten into IconX or Fx - just started in the spring & didn't have a clear idea of what they do. Now I'll dive in. Some Questions Could you please give a more detailed explanation of widgets & objects running in DeskTopX? If I launch a widget, I can see DXwidget.exe & WidgetManager.exe. Are you saying that th
