K...I've re-submitted mine, and the small preview looks awful whilst I can't tell any difference on the large preview, but at least it's a level playing field now... I wonder if a different way to generate small thumbnails could be looked at for the bootskin section to avoid these artifacts?

The point of my post above was that if the tools ARE very poor, then they get in the way, but once they're adequate then it needs the skill and inspiration to make something great. I once taught a textile designer friend of mine how to use a couple of basic tools in Corel Photopaint and then left her too it for a couple of hours. When I returned, with just those few tools she'd painted something that looked great, where as I (who knew how to use most of the program) couldn't make somet

I like the idea! given that most people won't have enough screen realestate to have every window for every application visible somewhere at a useable size without having to layer them,, then being able to quickly look at what's behind the top windows and shuffle them without having to change where the top one is placed would be a nice cool addition. Instead of using a button though, I'd like the ability to assign things like this to key+click combinations anywhere on the title b

Some comments since you asked. The overall look is minimalist, which as you declare is deliberate...on that score, it works as you aimed. The shout box being on the left on the front page I find distracting. Things like that offer a secondary function at best, so shouldn't clutter the important "where's the menu/options" eye line on the left IMHO The menu being "top left but not quite" means it gets lost on first impression. The design looks like the menu ought to be

An alternative method for now would be to do this: Which is an embeded image pointing to the same place as the winky in the list on the right when you compose a message...I don't think bandwidth stealing from the same site will be a problem since the image is tiny and it's already displaced on the page so it should be just one extra http get telling the browser to just re-use the image from the cache...

MCP = master control program in Tron? I hope you don't mean this trojan http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojmulyc.html Or maybe you mean the Micro C-Preprocessor: http://www.dunfield.com/support/techfaq.htm Give us a bit more of a clue as to the context. (Though, this rings a bell as something to do with playing multi-media files somewhere?)

#12 - SD, Pink? It's purple not pink I recognise the challenge inherent in trying to pull this off...that's the appeal of trying it...As Kennedy said: "We choose to go to the moon. . . . Not because it is easy, but because it is hard. . . . Because there is new knowledge to be gained" I have what I hope is a cunning plan to try and make it workable based on experience trying various things i

I agree 100%, and I commented as such on one persons submission... ...but...er *looking sheepish*...then I have to put my hand up to admit to bending this just a little myself when I submitted the Alien-Dial one I just had accepted https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=32&SkinID=716. I pondered this long and hard before doing so but the reason I did so was 2 fold. 1) Because of the dithering needed to render something in just 16 colours, a thumbnail version which samp

Fuzzy - you've obviously not seen some of my photos if those are the worst you've ever seen I've submitted some photos here which were rejected which would have been worse - I thought they had merit until I thought about them more objectively after they were rejected, so trust me, photos CAN be worse <img src="ht

A few comments: A) I don't think WB can change the possition of the scroller arrows, so having them both at the same end might be tricky...I've never understood why people would want that anyhow even when Apple offered it as an option. B) There would be an issue of intellectual property infringement unless someone takes the trouble to contact the creators of the look and feel and gets permission before copying it Other than that, it looks a very plain/bland/simple ski

#4 - but e-paper isn't the same as a current e-book...it looks and feels just like (well almost) real paper. It's white and relies on reflected light with black looking ink. It folds, bends and turns just like paper...for all intents and purposes you'll be holding a book that has just one sheet of paper. Best yet, it's thought that products might be able to be water proof so reading in the bath won't run the risk of having the book splashed and the ink run..<img src="http://images.sta

Just to be clear - it's only a very rough mock up thrown together in a few minutes at the moment, but I think it gives the idea a bit better than the earlier sample BTW...I've VERY please with the faux fur texture - the first sample was based on a photo of real fur, but the 2nd is 100% generated in Photoshop by me...can anyone tell it's computer generated? (or rather hand drawn!)

I've noticed that some people manage to layout their comments when they upload things in a very nice way - often including the use of bullets. HOW??? It's a little thing, but I'd like to make the comments I include more readable and the links to related items easier to follow. Can you include some HTML elements? If so, is there a list anywhere? Or, like the img and B/U tags, are some of them interpreted and implemented that way? Have I missed a help screen/file some

OK...since I've finished my first skin and people seem to like it, despite it being a little "chunky", I wonder if this would give people a better idea of what I have in mind for this PurpleFurrrr skin: Now, I wouldn't say this was something I'd opt to use every day...but is there a "most unusual skin" catagory in the GUI Olympics? Would ANYONE actually use this? To work with the
