Actually - a while after posting this I remembered seeing something fur related somewhere, and then I remembered where: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=29&SkinID=125 I think if no one has done a furry WindowBlind skin then I'm going to have to give it a go

I'm getting good milage out of using PhotoShop 7 with tga files...you do have to remember to make sure you don't have a "background" layer and to save them as 32 bit instead of the 24bit that Photoshop sometimes defaults to, but 90% of the time it's just open/edit/save without any hassle.

I've had a load of ideas for new designs for skins recently...I always thought the hardest part would be having the ideas! Anyhow, I've just knocked together a "sampler" of one idea I've had to run it up the flag pole and see if people think it would float (don't you love mixed metaphors?) So...see what you think: That's all I have for now, but what I have in mind is making al

#32 - yep, I was refering to the default Stardock supply with SkinStudio. I've looked for something confirming they can be used but without avail, and yet it seems pointless reinventing the wheel for such simple componants...

However - can I ask the experts a question on this topic too... Does leaving "default" items in a skin make it a rip? For example, Things like the groupbox graphics, and rebar-grippers etc would seem pointless to redesign as they are so simple in nature and need to be recognised for what they are for the skin to work... Thoughts?

IMHO - the dark blue one may have borrowed an item or two (or 10) of those shown in the screen shot, but there are a lot of elements which are certainly new items too: New = Start button, Bottom of Start Menu, Middle left of start menu, All Programs background, right of start menu, top of start menu, Top of window, left of window, right of window, bottom of window Seemingly "Borrowed" = Task buttons, task bar, Log off button, shut down button, tool bar, tool bar items, taskbar

I'm not sure what was happening with the colours (or even for certain where you might have been changing them), but to be considered "your" first skin, you'd need to make every part of it yourself. If it's based on someone else's work and you've just tweaked the colours then it's not new work I'm afraid. In Skin Studio, if you double click on an item it should open your default graphic editor. If you then design and make new graphics to replace those default graphics, then it

...I take that back about cropping the window when maximized It seems I'll have to go back and look at that again as it's not doing that now...I think I'd also look at adding a sub skin version with thin title bars eventually too as this is a completely fair point.

2:30? You wooss It's the same time for me, and you have a point...Zzzzzzz Best of luck with it tomorrow...though, it is sounding like a poached CPU...it was much easier diagnosing things like this when I had a workshop full of spares to swap in...this all becomes glorified mechano then...just swap bits till it works then charge the customer for the bit you swapped last <img src="http://images.star

The truth is that if I step away from this now I'm pretty sure I'll never finish it...it's just the way I do things. Once I leave something for a while, I'd rather start something entirely new. This isn't a theme I'd choose to use now, but I can't tell if that's because I'm fed up with seeing it a pixel at a time or because the whole thing has gone astray. Some bits have turned out just as I imagined, and some bits are actually better than I hoped, but I have this horrible feeling that overal

I'm assuming all the instructions above have been tried now, including disconnecting all the turbo/reset switch connections - the reason I ask is that many moons ago, when making a batch of machines for a client, one was dead as a dohdo...and I tried 1001 things before I found out that it was the CASE which was the problem - the reset switch was being constantly pressed, which prevented ANYTHING starting....symptoms which fit yours, and a reset switch could easily have been dislodged or damaged

*thinking...I'm much more used to trying to give support like this over the phone, and being able to go and visit the darn thing if it gets to this stage* Ahhh, I know...make sure you're holding a big hammer and look mean...it'll keep misbehaving until it knows you're serious, or until it thinks you've given up...

OK, I'm getting close to "finishing" my first WB skin, but I need some feedback on the design elements, the degree of consitency, useability on different screens etc before I feel able to finish it and upload it with confidence. However, I know no one outside of here who has WindowBlinds to try it out for me! Any volunteers? And if so, any idea how you'd want me to get the file to you? As an idea of what it looks like: <img src="http://skins.wincustomize.com/
