The important thing is that an eco starbase at the far side increases the BASE value of the trade route. In my last game with 2 bases at the far side, i was getting ~60 bc base value for the route. (which should get a lot higher as the route matures) And a 1000 BC a week in this game is not much. In GC1 you could get ~30% of your income via trade. Starbases at the origin my help as well. (I had 4) I'm going to start a game with the Korx customed for trade to see what

I just noticed that eco-starbases also boost the "base" value of a trade route. I'd personally given up on building freighters unless i was losing, because trade overall seemed very very marginal. (esp compared to GC1) I had even tried using Korx with heavy trade bonuses, and it just didn't work. However by building eco- starbases at the other side of the route, maxing out thier trade bonus, and THEN establishing the trade route you can actually make some dough... Is this common knowled
First time i've seen freighters armed. They could have wiped out my eco starbases because i thought it was just a freighter... The AI however treated it just like a freighter and never attacked. Has anyone else seen this ? Imagine an armed scout slipping into your backfield...
And what every happened to the dregin "Death Furnaces" from GC1. (the dregin often mentioned them in their dialague from gc1.)
I find large to be about the most fun to play. The AI does well at the colony rush, the game runs smooth, and the AI puts up a good mid-game. I find huge to be overly long, and generally dominate the AIs from the start as they generally don't all get a good colony rush. But metaverse wise, a large game for me ~30000 points, and huge ~45000. So for points is it better to play 3 larges vs 2 huge ? Does the averaging hurt you that much ? Personally going to keep playing large as it's wa
This game is getting better and better. Especially with 1.2. My last game I almost quit because it seemed i couldn't possibly fend off 3 civs bearing down on me... (mostly because my empire was spread thin because i started in a corner) However. What i've noticed is the AI doesn't seem to put enough effort into building battle group fleets. By this I mean all fighters/battleships. It seems like all you have to do is get the match ups right against maybe 5-10 of these
The option is there but i don't think it does anything yet. It's not in the "iist" for 1.2. The AI already is updating ships faster than 1x per year. I don't think Brad has said exactly what it'll do.
Really depends on how you have anomolies set. If you have abundant then you definately want survey capabile ships very early. (right after getting impulse engines) For me i found it was too easy to exploit anomilies by building 3-4 fast long range cargo survey ships, so i now set them to rare. Now i only start building scout ships once the rush is over, and I need to know where more resources are that I don't have constructors on the way too.... <img src="http://images.stard
Well that sucks... thx for the answer. Are you sure the metaverse code wouldn't detect something was up, and mark it as a cheat ? HEY STARDOCK, are their any plans for purely cosmetic metaverse friendly mods ?
You can see their build queue after you've invaded. (or even before.) I did a post on this before, and they still have not completely fixed it. (seems like they generally pick upgrades on bonus tiles first) Link
Probably aphrodiasiac as moose said. But it's really counter productive. I generally steal the PQ tecs with invasions, since you really don't need them till the mid game. I've seen AI planets with 1 factory, 4-5 pq improvements and then a farm etc...Meanwhile the planet is stuck at 5billion pop waiting for all the stupid PQ improvements.
Play as neutral... The Neutral Learning Centers are pratically what you're talking about... You're probably right in that there should be more overall variety in the game. Perhaps each race should have a building/ weapon that only it can build/develop. Dregin could have military barracks which raise soldiering. Torians could have cloning facilities...etc...
I actually just took my new GeForce card out, and put back my ATI 9550 and old powersupply... I was having constant system freezes on any 3d game. (but GC2 was the worst) The only thing that helped was playing at a lower resolution. Now i need to start tinkering to see if it was : 1) the card 2) the drivers 3) powersupply 4) heat 5) bad fan ? What really peeves me is the newer setup worked fine ~2-3 weeks and then i started getting hangs.
Ya the Fog in this game needs some more work. For instance once you've seen a planet or starbase, you forever know it's status. IE what's in orbit on that planet, who owns it, or that the starbase was built/destroyed.
Wow seriously I've never seen it in a store. I'm in burbs just south of philly, lets see EB games, best buy, nor comp usa had it. Maybe it's the area ?
i had the same question Link
make sure to hit the default button.
Good luck finding it in a store. I've never seen it. (been 4-5 times i've looked, just to see what the box really looks like) Just buy it online. You'll want to update it anyway to 1.2, so unless you really want the box i don't see why not to just do the online. (unless you've got dial up i suppose...)
When you build colony ships that move > 5, this can happen very easily. So you should probably learn to start building them that way...lol denine99, thanks I'll take a look.
I just cant see how the human mind would be able to comprehend a full scale 3d map with 100's of ships on it. It sounds neat but in pratice would be a bear.
IMO it's a bug. I hate hitting a PQ4, esp when there's a 19 right next to it lol. Personally wish there were options for this and everything else that it does ask you "are you sure ? " especailly constructors. 1) Just build the starbase. I sent it there, I want a starbase. 2) Just take me to the starbase upgrade menu. If i want to cancel, i can still hit cancel. 3) Stop asking me if i want to spend an extra 500 bucks to build infuence modules. I p
Seems like enabling mods disables metaverse, but graphical mods really shouldn't do this. Am I wrong ? Can you mod the GUI and play a metaverse game? I really liked the example gui, and want to use it. Can it be separated out, and used for metaverse ?
So is it, or will it be possible to play metaverse with just the GUI mods ?
ok. Their gui did just what you said in that it didn't show up until i hit default. Thx everybody.
