I'm running 1.2, but I don't see the choices for the example mod. I've turned mods on, and restarted. Looking in the mods folder I only see empty directories, so that's probably it... But where is the Big sample mod that stardock did ? Do I have to download it separately ?

Tac battles was the only decent choice. I actually voted other. Because mostly i could care less about tac combat. What I'd love to see : 1) over haul using population to fight invasions. a) Use soldiers that must be paid, and trained, and are 100x more effective than ordinary people. b) have techs and building(s) supporting this. 2) add some variety to ships ie : a) stealth, and revamp sensors to make them meaningfull. b) support ships

Much smarter lately. The best is when you play cat and mouse games with in-coming transports... They actually see my fleets, and run away... LOL Plantary improvements are way smarter as well. Although I've seen the Arceans seemingly not initialize and just build farms...

My last few games have been marked as cheating as well. I am not cheating. I believe the problem is that when my video card crashes my PC, and I have to restart and reload it's getting marked as a cheat. Should i just set auto save to every turn ? (believe i need a better power supply, or better heat control) These have been with newest beta. Also I think some of my older games were marked, but then got cleared. Is that to be expected ?

The range issue, would be more funly resolved if you could have some sort of resupply ship that you could add to a fleet that could support so many logistic points at any range. Probably best done with a huge module that you could add to a cargo ship.

I find the biggest problem with the game to be once you get over the "hump", the game is just too easy. I mean there's allways a point where you start crushing your opponents, and picking up more momentum that can't be stopped. (pretty much as the post says) I personally think the way to resolve this is to slow down pop growth, and make invasions more painful for the attacker. That way you could not wipe out 10 AI planets quite so easily and still have huge pop centers to keep the

I tend to agree you generally only need a few designs. Usually I start with mediums, and then to go on full offense I build larges. I don't see any reason to go bigger. Latter in the game I upgrade my mediums if they need to fight, but generally their on starbase duty or just positioned to watch the front lines. I tend to think this is the reason I find the game getting boring. You end up designing the same basic ships over and over. I remember how much fun it was one game where

Good definately needs improving. I like defense overall, but it's not worth going to good. They're generally cheap to research, so with neutral you get good defense anyway. NLC are awesome. Getting all the terraforming is very nice. With good there's nothing even close. IMO good needs : 1) perhaps more good civs in the game overall. (work together, and smash evil...) 2) significant trade bonuses. (way way more than what neutral gets) I mean huge trade bonuses, like

Is the AI really running while your turn is going ? I personally hate the time gaps that he's talking about. I'd much rather it be at the end of the turn. Its extreamly annoying when you say fleet, or do something and it takes 5-10 seconds. Or even go to upgrade something, and it feels like it's going to crash, but then it catches up. Back on OS2 the original GC was definately multi-threaded, and for the time ran extreamly well. Perhaps its just crappy windows priority/threadi

Do the trade bonuses really work ? I've had a hard time getting worth while trade routes. Even with the bazaar on my economic capitol, i don't really see any improvement. (i know the starbases bonuses work)

At +1/ship just on that planet, it's really not worth sparing a square on my best production planet... They should bring back the GC1 equivalent, which gave all your ships attack/defense bonuses... It would make going down the hull tech line much more worth it...

Cntrl N, is for weaklings.... My best (most fun), games are either this sort of start, or at least a crowded start where i don't get to many planets. I wish there where settings to change the range scale. Most of the time range just isn't an issue. Having to build resupply starbases, and protecting them would really make the game more fun for me.

Currently play at painfull. Bumping up the difficulty won't really address this. I just think the cost structure of the game wasn't correctly balanced out. Basically I've never been able to over build my military. Just keep cranking ships out, and upgrade them. I personally think correcting this could make the AI's stronger, as they should be better able to manage the numbers. I just don't think having so much money that you can generally quick buy a dozen of your

Is it me or is it nearly impossible to screw up in this game ? In GC1 or other TBS games you could generally overbuild in any area and cause major problems. For instance in GC1 you pretty much had to prune your military to keep maintenance costs down. Not so here. Building a juggernaut economy is just too easy. The whole economy system of GC2 seems to favor a world of plenty. Everything is cheaper, and money more plentiful than GC1. The starbase costs are so trivial in GC2

There needs to be some sort of change here. Even something simple like a 50-50 chance of attacking first. It's just too easy to setup on the AI and swoop in and wipe him out in one or two turns. Further it's way too easy to capture planets on the 1st few turns of war, while the AI struggles to even take out a minor race. Personally i'd like to see invasion tactics cost way way more, and the defender have the advantage. (Although the AI would probably never win a land battle t
