HA ha... Nice how did i forget giving away hyperdrive ? I like the Mexicans idea. Production +50% Reproduction +50% Soldiering -40% (could be attacked during the mandatory seista) Diplomacy -30% (don't like to learn universal language...)

It's a good tactic. What the ai should do is ensure that they take the starbase that turn. IE have at least a constructor around and a small fleet to hold it... I think i've only 1ce seen the AI park fleets on starbases. I was like OMFG !!! Personally this is one of the biggest weaknesses of the AI, relying on starbase defenses. The last few games, i would line up stacks of constructors near each of the enemy starbases, and in the first week of war grab them all. When

I agree it would be nice to have records of all your games, and maybe even the endgame saves kept around. Maybe with Dark Avatar they'll address this, since they're saying they're going to add a game summary. (they didn't say if it would stay around...)

Brad can you please explain the philosophy behind the scoring system ? Probably like : 1) reward good players a) time to get a the win b) the type of win c) etc... 2) reward quality and not quantity 3) avoid cheese...

It should take a lot more into detail. As shortbusboy said logistics should be in there. Soldiering should also probably be in there. The reality is, that a decent fleet equiped correctly can wipe out scores of inferior enemy fleets. (especially if you have reserves and can rotate out the damaged ships) Maybe there needs to be a squaring done on the individual ship values to represent this ? Also the AI should consider what weapons everyone is using vs what their defenses are.<br

I've had quite a few games recently where the arceans dominated. I don't think i've even seen the Thalains do much, i've even set them to incredible. Seems safest to set humans and them to the highest difficultly. It'll be awhile before i set the arceans above genius...

Think the French must have united the world in GC2. Lets see : 1) Earthlings foolishly rely on diplomacy. 2) Never seen them do anything too militarily significant. (even on incredible) 3) Slow to revamp thier military. (probably all AIs fail here but oh well.) Think it would be funny to explain the backstory a little more in this area, or maybe mod it so the humans are distinctly french...

I guess the question is what happens at game 64 ? Justkevin can you send me your excel file ? I was going to the same thing but don't have the energy, i wrote a perl script to extract the scores and dates out of a saved version of the metaverse page, but then got tired and quit... i think i got re-calced when i submitted, but i'm not sure. I think i'm done playing gigantic games, and so my metaverse days my be over anyway. The turns just get too slow. Once i get more than a few ships getting completed a turn and heading to a distant rally point, my computer slows to a crawl. I wish they'd have a setting for ships to just jump or skip like a card getting delt to their destinations. My last game the Arceans completely out played me through the beg

I think you're dead on. It's probably all powers of 2 do something. I just played game 32 (my best score of 90k), and got knocked way down. (9th to 17th) Of course it could be the 30 day windows, but i don't think so. Wish stardock would give us the straight dope on this crap.

Cntrl N about 35 times... Maybe play with just 1 AI opponent. Whatever. I smell CHEESE !!! And don't say editing a save isn't possible with metaverse. There's bound to be a way to hack whatever checksum etc they're doing. Personally think you screwed up posting your cheats with such short games. Oh well. I made the mistake of playing 32nd game, and i got knocked way down. Not sure how much i lost, but by posting a 90k game, i went from 9th to 17th.

Another key to the corner start is to monopolize as many resources as you can. Since everyone else is building colony ships, you can switch to constructors and grab up a lot of resources. I've had starts where i grabbed around 30-40% of the resources. This is especially true if there is a cluster of stars all the AI(s) are sending colony ships to. It keeps them busy. Even if there's only a few planets open, the AIs tend to stay in the colony rush mode. For me this is the what mak

I've noticed that having lots of ships going to rally points (far away), is bad. So i've started using rally points local to a set of planets, collecting up ships there and then sending them on they're way. (seems to help a good bit) I believe they have a path finding problem, (or heard that). I wish you could set it so the ships just jumped where you click as aposed to the square by square tedium now.

Going neutral and rushing to NLCs can be dangerous. They're expensive, and if you over do it, you can fall behind militarilly. On thing that is always good is to pick at decent planet (pq 16+) for your tec capitol and build as many research as it'll support. (you'll want 1-2 factories until you top out with discovery spheres or NLC) I tend to quick build research upgrades on my tec cap, as the normal upgrading can be slow. Try to build at least 2-3 max-ed out eco starba

Just realized that using info warfare is not quite as effective as i thought. If you lose, which often you do when you chose it, after the battle the defender gets the defectors back. (resurrected) Half the reason i love the idea of info war, was that you're using his guys to kill even more of his. (and killing the defectors.) So now i find it's a toss up when attacking a 20B+ planet with mediocre morale wheather to send in the 1st transport using info-war, or to just go
