Anyone still playing the first one? I still have to beat the Altarian Prophecy campaigns... want to do that before I start on the Dread Lord ones...

Are we going to get robots presenting techs again, or actual aliens now that we can play different ones? Or are you guys leaving that kind of thing out of the game?
This is an earlier stage than when I joined the GalCiv1 beta, but I've been having fun flying ships around! Since the new update today I havn't had any crashes whatsoever!
That's not true... I pre-ordered it on March 30th and am able to play the beta...
I think we can all agree this has become Troll central. These people are abviously just trying to stir the pot.
Here, and waiting for the beta with baited breath!
God = the laws of physics. Anything beyond that is wishful thikning.
Hmm... I've been finding AP easier. The aliens usually arn't as tough because there is less space for them to expand... and more races means more trade... are you just having problems keeping them happy?
It's always listed as a download for me, it just gives me the option to buy it when I click it. Now, I DID buy it, but nothing's changed. I thought that Brad said that Beta 2 would be available to everyone who pre-ordered it?
Can people who've pre-ordered the expansion dl it yet? And if so, how?
Don't know how many of you know/care, but the board game that inspired GalCiv is getting a major update! Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition is coming out late summer 2004, anyone who is interested should go to FFG's msg forums and check it out!
Yay! There was looting in Ottowa!
More people should try this game out... it's the cat's pajamas. ;)
Each major has a flagship, but it's only their starting Survey Ship... nothing special.
And if so, how come first contact was with the Arceans? ;p ~SDC~
I thought for some reason that the Major Races homeworls were supposed to be spaced out... but then I started a game tonight where the Yor homeworld was in a sector right next to Earth! Is this supposed to happen? ~SDC~
Depending on where in the route the little ships are, the more money you're making from the route. ~SDC~
I think Brad already said the reason there isn't anything like this in the game is because it would be a nightmare to code the AI to use it properly... ~SDC~
Need to have "close" relations and they need to have the tech as well.
And why should it NEVER be that strong? The whole point of the United Planets is to change the rules of the game as you go... if you don't want your transports to have the boost leave the UP.
I don't get why this thread is so long... you already got your answer, it isn't going to happen! This game isn't about fleets, never was, never will be. Give it up. And it's not like the dev's arn't listening to you, it's just that Brad has a vision of what he wants this game to be and fleets arn't a part of that. If you want a realistic fleet system you go and develop Galactic Fleets and play that. ~SDC~
I have been doing this the entire time I've played this game... Basically I specialize my governors and then just asign them to whatever planets I want to do what. All my core worlds usually end up having everything, but it helps to have a couple specialist planets... ~SDC~
If you wanted a combat oriented game, then you have the wrong game. The whole point of GalCiv is that combat isn't the point. That's why there is no tactical combat, because the game isn't about combat. ~SDC~
they are kinda red... ~SDC~
