I wonder if people are getting the picture that the AI as it stands right now is incomplete? I'm sure the game will become MUCH harder by release....
But in "space" we're talking about PLANETFULS of people who have to go all the way to the Starbases... think of them not as McDonalds but like Disney Lands. And think of them as each being different. Even with 20 of them in a sector, a given "space family" could go to say 10 of them in of their lifetimes... maybe more. All I'm saying is, you have to assume that each Spacestation is running at capacity. More space stations just mean more people being exposed to what you want them to be.
After the AI learns to deal with it better, it might not be so exploitable... I mean, when the AI learns to start attacking your Starbases before they get powerful enough to do anything it won't be a problem anymore.
I agree. Don't limit anything, if someone wants to build massive amounts of Starbases they should be able to... we just need to tweak the modules and maybe the cost. Make it so it might not be a good idea, but don't flat out prevent it if someone wants to. And to Technician... I come from Canada, and even though we're not officially joined with the states, CULTURALY we are practically the same. And while people may not like the USA, everyone wants to live like an American.
I agree. Starbases should produce more culture than a planet, because they are there as cultural centers for aliens... more Aliens would be on a Starvase soaking up cultural items than on a human planet I'm sure...
Being able to only build Starbases in sectors you controll would kinda riun the whole point of Starbases wouldn't it? I mean, isn't their purpose to help you gain control of sectors that arn't yours?
Perhaps... Rangers? I like my stealth ships sleek and gun-filled...
Even on the huge map I played today, Battle Cruisers where about the most advanced thing I ever saw other than my Phoenix.. es?
Not being able to attack the AI's ships is a bug that is currently being worked on... AS for your second question, while I wouldn't go into deficit, I would increase your military spending and increase your government spending to help pump out those colony ships as fast as possible...
I think there was a thread about the advantages of being a good empire... but I think the basics are that it opens/closes certain technologies to you and dictates how the AIs will react to you... there may be more bonuses that I'm not aware of...
Check out the main page! It lists all the stuff that will be in Beta4 and Terror Stars are there!
Perhaps your senate should have a vote every time you want to destroy a system? But make it harder to persuade them than it is to go to war...
Oh man... first game of Beta4 will be dedicated to the construction of one of these beautiful weapons of destruction...
I think the idea of the events are just to let you pick alignment by then... and I'm sure that they'll put in some late game events that can really screw you up...
Terror Stars are in! Muhahahahaha!
I like it the way it is now... it adds urgency to the beginning of the game to get out there and get good planets, because you're not going to be able to improve anything too much for a long while...
I think it's pretty random who a civ surrenders too... just not anyone they are at war with...
Let the guys have a weekend! I'm sure it'll get fixed in the next build...
I'm sure that it will all be in the manual... I almost have them all memorized allready...
Yes they did, it has done that since the beginning.
Strange talk about the minors... they stay pretty minor to me... In the game I just played today, all the major races were doing really well, beating down the minors like the flies they are...
The "flagships" the aliens have are their starting Servey Ships...
Speaking of which, when/if you guys come out with GalCiv 2, is it going to be a completely seperate game or just this game with so many more features/goodies that it qualifies as number 2? That would be cool if you guys just kept adding on to this game up to GalCiv 7! By then I'm sure it would be the ULTIMATE space exploration game!
I was just wondering, if it's not a company secret or anything, how many people have pre-purchased GalCiv and are in the Beta?
