If it is militarily superior, the AI may declare war on you. I don't think this has anything to do with alignment... just relations and military strength. Being Good automatically puts you on good terms with other good races though, so in that respect you can prevent a superior AI from declaring war on you... Or at least that's how I think it works...

I find the best way to keep your people happy is to tweek your economy stuff at least every 5 turns... I must be doing something right... as long as I keep my monetary situation under control I can keep my people happy. If they start to drop too much, start a war! Send those people off of the highly populated planets to die for the glory or the Human species! Then the population is again distributed and people are happy and I got to kick some ass. :D

Influence IS affected most by the number of systems you have. That's why when you look at even systems that no one owns they have a "influence" rating.

I think this is one of those things that you can't really change... if someone wants to do it badly enough they're going to find a way to do it. It should be common sense that you're cheating and you just shouldn't do it. I personally have no problem with this, because GalCiv takes a decade to shut down on my computer, and I don't want to go thorugh that just to get a better planetary event...

"cakewalk" is gone. You used to be able to pick what difficulty level you wanted and it would give you a certain number of "picks" at the beginning. "cakewalk" was when you had 10 picks, like now. It was taken out so that you'd always have a choice on how many picks to use, without the extra button click to choose between difficulty levels...
