To keep your people happy you have to continually expand and disperse humankind throughout the galaxy! Nothing like unhappy people on a crowded planet to be shipped off on a transport to kill some alien swine!

Plus the extra trade routes and faster ships that being good gets you... I usually play with 2 Good aliens and 2 Neutral aliens and only the Drengin as evil... more incentive to be good.

Building a bunch of Starbases isn't what I call "fun" either, and I know I'm the minority when I say this, but I still play games for "fun" and even if the Starbase issue isn't touched before 1.0, I still will never use that cheesy tactic because what is the fun in that?

I guess I'm the opposite of Technician... I WANT to be informed of what each anomoly I get is.. I WANT to be able to pick what planet I colonize... making everything automated seems to take away from the game for me... sometimes I'll play a whole game without governors and I still can finish a Gigantic galaxy in a reasonable amount of time....

I don't know. Maybe I'm a freak. I have yet to have any problems beating the pants off of the aliens in every respect on Average. By the time I meet any of the Major races I am leaps and bounds ahead of them in tech. I have way more planets and way more population. I usually don't have many ships, but if any of them declare war on me that changes damn quick. I do follow a VERY large colonization run at the beginning, putting my military spending to 55% and overall spending to 100% to pu

The sudden damage could have been from the Tradegood Tri-Strontium Steel... it increases the overall hitpoints of yous ships, but not their current hit points. So they apear damaged. I think there might be some techs that do this too? Mine repair fine... I don't know why yours don't...

Again it seems here that you want a space empire simulation, not a space empire GAME. It seems I may be the big minority here, but being a huge fan of board games such as Twilight Imperium, I like it when the game is complicated enough to keep my interest, but not so complicated that it becomes a hassle to play. I think that Galactic Civilizations has done this wonderfully. I don't know why, but everyone else says they have major problems controlling their economy. I have never had this prob

I know the AI will declare war on you if they feel they're militarily superior, but I think they should look at other stuff too... I usually don't build any ships until I need to. Because of this my military power is usually pretty low. Today the Drengin declared war on me, I assume, because I was less militarily powerful than them. The problem was that I had WAY more planets than them, WAY more production than them and a lot more tech. They declared war on me with their little Star Fig

I used to be an advocate of the "space borders" idea... but now not so much. If you see a bunch of ships heading for your space, it should be your responsibility to do something about it... maybe a diplomatic option to tell the AI to remove any ships within a certain distance from your systems? Of course, if they're building up a fleet, they're probably going to attack you no matter what you say to them...

I'll keep my mouth shut about the States declaring war with no reason... But, you need to think of this as a GAME. Not a simulation. Each AI is trying to WIN. It doesn't matter what their alignment is, they want to win. If the human player is Good, but is also the only thing in the way of the AI winning, the AI should realize this and get rid of the human player.
