I knew it would suck as soon as I found out they took out my beloved Darloks... (:(

I'm having the exact same problems as Sander. Windows ME, celeron 750, 128 Megs, No idea what my video card is...
With 5A I still can't view the mini cutscenes and the intro is still VERY choppy (doors opening and the spacestation animation) and now the background music also cuts out, which was never a problem in beta 5...
Yes, but there HAS to be a maximum. There are only so many resources per planet/per sector. Unless we somehow figured out how to create matter there will always be a limit to production.
In the story that's how everyone got arround before Humans invented Hyperdrive.
Currently it isn't random. Not for the player anyways. The player is always 1 sector away from anyone else, it's just the AIs that can get clumped together. The game I'm playing right now had this happen and the AIs that were clumped really couldn't do too much.
I don't think he's talking about the way the whole Galaxy is "seeded" with stars and such, just how spread out the Major Races are from each other. And I'm all for this. I hate it when I finally meet one of the Majors and they have 3 stars to my 20. And I think it makes complete sense to spread them out evenly... you can still get shafted in a spot with no stars, you just know that there won't be another Major race in the next sector...
I agree. Leave Spacestations as easy kills. Just make it easier to defend it by letting us "orbit" ships around them... like a fleet set to gaurd the station.
But you can negotiate... decline the offer and then offer what you want. The computer will still say no either way :p
I think they should make it so you can have something like 3 ships "orbiting" the space station... I thought this was in the game in an earlier beta...
Everyone I know has a PC and numerous consoles.. I for one have a PC(and I'm in the process of upgrading) a PS1 and Game Cube and a GBA (if that even counts). I play them all equally. I think you have to look at the games more than the systems they run on. Every platform for gaming I have purchased has been because of a game/games. Now I know a lot of people wouldn't purchase a PC just for a game, but that doesn't change the fact that a lot of people have PCs and although more games may be creat
I always go evil or good... never had any problems...
The more options the better I say.
Yeah, but it also makes it harder to control morale, which is directly tied in with how much money you make...
You've got to use those Scout ships for something... I don't mind the new resources.
Was your morale pretty low? It's not worth to change in my opinion if your average morale is below 60...
what do you use to play the .BIK files?
Well in my opinion MOO2 was an alright game but had some fatal flaws. MOO in my opinion is better(have more fun playing) than MOO2. GalCiv isn't really all that micro intensive, and that's why I like it. It's a good game for lazy people like me ;)
Lucky Jack, if you havn't reinstalled yet, don't bother. I've just done a full reinstall and it hasn't helped at all. Still only hear the choppy cut-scene sound but no video.
Try Twilight Imperium. It basically IS a board game version of GalCiv. I play it every weekend and that game NEVER gets old. Check it out at http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ti.html and I'm running a PBEM game of it at http://www14.brinkster.com/aliensatemycat/ if you want to see how it goes...
The only thing I actually like better about MOO than GalCiv is the individuality of the races. I just like it when there are actually some advantages/disadvantages that each race has. Although customization in MOO ruins this...
That is suposed to be counter balanced by the fact that the AIs know where all the good planets are off the bat. Do the AIs automatically go for the best planets in their range, or just the closest habitable planets? Do they compete with each other for planets or are they kind of hard wired to share planets off the start?
Maybe it also has something to do with the fact me and Lucky Jack are running the most dispised OS of all... Windows ME! Oh the humanity...
I have downloaded the multimedia and I still get a blank screen. I can hear the sounds it's supposed to make, but no movie. Any ideas why?
Brad has already stated a few times that combat will get a bit deeper with weapon types and fleet bonuses due to Flagships. These just arn't going to make it into 1.0, but some future update.
