"industry standard" isn't just following the crowd, or vanity name dropping. The 'industry' in 'industry standard' implies that it is a workplace. I'm dubious. When I was using spamcop as a filter, i started missing emails from people. I think some of them use filters for email return addresses and subject lines that *look* like spam, but sadly a lot of people's emails do, too. Just about every time I got an email that had a return addy like "yourname87654@yahoo_com" with a subject line with 'sale' or 'auction' in it, it marked it as spam. If you go with a light font on a dark background, remember that some Windows apps don't use the OS color setting for their fonts. When I tried out windowblinds, i had to turn off a some apps because I couldn't read the black font on a dark skin. Embedded icons are bad about that too, sometimes. I love dark themes, though.

People often forget the PHOTO part of Photoshop. It does a great job at graphics from scratch, but that is only one aspect of the program. I've never used PSP, but I've reached the point now that I can render about anything i can imagine in PS. I have noted that the style of a lot of PSP artists lean toward being less realistic, but that could just be their style.
