I'm not gonna even address 90% of the idiotic stuff you said. I'll address the idea that everyone around here, or in the community 'hates' me. You have to understand, when I call Jark an ass, or tell Jafo he's a nut; I've known these people for over 3 years. I was griping at Frogboy on the Skinz messageboard before 90% of the 'community' existed. Do I expect everyone in this little break room to be my friend or even like me? Nope. The modern world is losing the concept of '

Jafo: yeah, you're right. I'm just tired. I'm gonna take this glass of rum and my last cigar and go sit out on my porch and blow smoke rings until my feet freeze. g'nite
Jafo: the minute you do, they'll change something and you'll have to start over. I actually had a couple of pages done on a tutorial for LS when they changed it. I also had a sonique tutorial half done when they announced that the next format was gonna be totally different. Then there was my ICQ Plus tutorial that was valid for a couple of months. You have no idea how much stuff I deleted when I got fed up. Don't you guys ever get tired? Honestly it is hard to get started back. I'm

lmao... that was a good one, wombat. "thing, thing a thong, thing out loud, thing out thtrong!" but seriously, is this thong thing feasable? Is this something one should put in the 'pros' column for Hinduism? What about something more durable, like a recliner or a car seat? Heh, hold the leather... *cough* I'm an ass...
okay, that creeped me out. /me goes to his happy place...
JM: you said "You get what you pay for, period.... If that concept is unacceptable to you, then I don't want to know you... " maybe we are taking you up on it? "You get what you pay for" is meaningless. There is a lot of free software online that beats the crap out of its payware equivalent.
Bryce tops out at $200, so it is within the reach of any kid that can mow lawns in the summer. A kid probably isn't gonna pay $649 for Photoshop, so Adobe isnt' losing a sale when the crappy little d00d steals it. As cheap *cough* as Bryce is, that same d00d could save his allowance and 'do the right thing', and would be more apt to. Warez copies of Bryce more readily translate to monetary loss. Makes sense to me.
Thin ice. I'm not walking on it. Which, I suppose, shows that a bloviating horse's butt like myself has its limit... Not that I am upset about the question, it's a fair one.
p.s. Risking Doreenosis; when I say I don't blame 'them', I mean Corel, for not offering a beta.
pfft... what was I saying? That was a JOKE, right Ashu? lol
I think you can lay the blame for the loss of the beta squarely at the feet of warez pimps. I don't blame them. I would venture to say that at least 75% of all bryce work done on the amateur upload sites we are familiar with was done with warez copies. I would give Photoshop work an even higher percentage.
Photoshop 7.0 has a pretty spiffy image browser, but I don't use it that much. I either have projects set up on my desktop, or I am rummaging through the files themselves. PS is a lot to load just to view/sort, etc.
Just as a tip, don't forget the right click menu option 'Edit'. You can set it in the file associations, too, and it can be a quick way to open a file in a different app for editing. I have edit set to Photoshop and open set for ACDSee.
Well, we're only up to N.I.S. 2003, so I guess we'll see next year. If Norton is updating for win98 in 2004, I'll buy you a cookie.
sig said: 'The OS still functions and apps still run.' That isn't always true. The real death of any OS is when they stop releasing hardware drivers and DirextX upgrades for it. If you can't put a sound, video, or network card in it, or upgrade virus software, or even use new patches for programs you already have, it is pretty much dead. When Everquest patched last year, you *had* to upgrade to DX8. If you had an OS they didn't make DX8 for, you couldn't play... software you
Photoshop is a very expensive peice of equipment that is designed to do hundreds of differend jobs. It is complicated, but once you have it you can use those skills to do a lot of diverse things. Many people consider using it a pain, but I consider it an education. You can use adjustment layers as I said above, and set them to 'color' or one of the others to get the results you need, depending on the situation. Whatever you do don't paint on the same layer as the original. Adjustmen
Unless you leave it running all the time, PSP has to be started to check and reset associations. If Windows Image and Fax Viewer has stolen the file association, you aren't gonna run PSP by clicking on an image. Windows Image and Fax Viewer steals the association *back* when PSP isn't looking. Note Jafo's 7:09 post above.
image > adjustments beyond that, you can use adjustment layers and a brush.
ohhh, no i didnt' understand the question... i thought he was talking about top authors... fergit it.
Yeah, i think i understand the question. fer instance, Carbon Fiber (WB) by boxxi has had 1651 downloads today. That's just one of his skins. God only knows how many times treetog's stuff has been downlaoded. Not that it is any big deal. It's just odd to see those numbers when you know they are much mucy higher.
I am really sick of apps that steal file associations. Almost every stinkin media app that I install completely ignores my installation choices and associates with all the filetypes I told them not too. then, in an unrelated note, there's the apps that monkey with your startup. This last install of quicktime set up a registry RUN on the systray app. There was *no* way in the preferences to turn it off. SO, I delete the registry setting. Guess what happens when I use quicktime to
Jafo sez "Your first language is 'English'" ummmmm, I missed the first 99% of the babya thing, but i had just assumed... well... forget it.
Hrm... I have been monkeying around for a bit and I have found that it isn't working as well with Talisman as I thought. The taskbar doesn't seem to be refreshing now. I would *swear* it was originally. I get the apps that are running when I launch it, but new ones don't appear and old ones don't disappear. There have been some quirks with the beta systray and taskbar of late, perhaps that is the issue. I'll keep ya posted
weeeeell... actually I didn't mean independantly skinned modules, rather optional segments of a single theme, that would load only if asked. If it could work, that would be cool too, but my suggestion was mainly to add functionality to a single app without causing bloat for those who didn't want to use it.
